fuzzylogic , and jillywilly , I saved a bunch of my books from when I was a child and brought them out when we had K. Some of them are not... appropriate. The sad part is that they were my favorite stories as a kid. One of them is blatantly racist. One of my favorites "Bedtime for Francis" my mom tracked down and got recently. I was super excited to read it to K until I got to the spanking part. Like omfg why?! Now I have to censor most of my childhood which I can get away with pretty well until she starts to read. We had that problem with The Story About Ping. Have this and the 5 chinese brothers. I loved the story as a child, but the illustrations are so beyond racist. I'm saving them for when she's old enough to understand and we can have a serious talk about race and how things like this are not ok. I don't want to get rid of it because that's like saying shit like that never happened.

sheilathetank, I got all signed up! I like deals, especially on clothes that will last. I have four giant boxes of childhood/teen books that my mom collected for me from the house. I haven't gone through them yet, but I know there are Babysitter's Club books in there and I'm stoked. And Berenstain Bears. But not baby-baby books so I have time to get sorting. I wonder what all is in there...
