dc2london, oh yikes. FX he stays ok. Also freaky to know it's lurking on your street, you know? Yeah, I mean, they only play together outside or at the pool but it definitely changes things when someone you know personally has a breakthrough infection and they're only about 6 months older than your kid. "But kids don't get it"

If there’s a way for me to campaign remotely for you willow I totally would. That goes for anyone here who wants to run for anything. 😁 We need more good, thoughtful people helping to make decisions at local levels.

One of MH's coworkers 20yo DD just tested positive. Apparently she's not vaxxed and vapes so her parents are really concerned. Nothing super serious yet and fortunately MH hasn't seen the guy since early last week
I had a couple returns to make today and went in 3 stores. I was the only masked person in any of them
The cases in our state are over 7x higher than they were a month ago and 3x what they were 2 weeks ago. After hearing that I think DD might finally be on board with a virtual public school option until she can be vaxxed. I'm so sad for her to have to do this again, but this time without familiar faces from school

When I was out at the fitness center and the grocery store this afternoon, I didn't note an uptick in masking. To be sure, my county is still at moderate.
The fitness center is a park district facility, so serves people of all ages. Honestly, from the Silver Sneakers class I passed to the mommy and me class conducted on one of the basket ball courts, I think I only saw maybe four masks. There were at least 100 people in the center, but it's over 40,000 square feet so very quiet and spread out in the early afternoon.
I did ask the center's front desk about masking and they said they're on a day to day basis. Again, at moderate we don't fall under the CDC guidance yet so it's at the personal risk calculation level.

My friend called me today to ask what I thought about the wedding we are supposed to go to in a month. The wedding we were so excited about and now…. Ugh.
She also had multiple horror stories of vaxxed people getting covid in LA. So. Cool. Cool.

My state's public health was giving daily Covid numbers until a few weeks ago when it switched to weekly because of low numbers. Well, we are back to daily updates. 😭

That lasted just over a month without masks. I feel bad for all the employees and I wish they could get bonus pay for dealing with what will surely be some horrendous assholedom.

This is good. We need more if this. Make it harder for eligible people to remain unvaccinated and resume their normal life. That’s awesome! H’s company (also an internet based company with several branches) let people back in to the office starting in June, but also requires the vaccine. One thing they aren’t doing though is paying for parking, like they used to. Parking at the lot at their building downtown is $20/day, maybe a bit less if you pay monthly. Sooooo I expect that alone will deter people from returning.

This is my biggest fear. My hospital is really buried under the surge of unseasonable RSV cases, our regular summer traumas and just a bunch of sick kids. We are short staffed and people are leaving like they are abandoning a sinking ship. If COVID gets really bad in kids, we will be desperate. On another note, willow I think my friends may live in your district and they are very politically active. Message me if you run and I’ll let them know to volunteer.

Good. Wonder how that will go over with DeSantis. I hope he chokes on his mask. But you can't choke on something you're not wearing. 😭

Someone raised a good point if insurance companies can require vaccinations or you lose coverage. It was a co worker regarding private insurance companies.

I think it's against the ACA to use it as a pre-existing condition to deny coverage but there are variable rates for smokers/non-smokers and they could potentially carve out a tier for non-immunized.

In theory I don't mind this but I am a little worried that we haven't done our best to reach every community just yet. In another 6 mo, if we are really pounding pavement, ok. Like I would hate to penalize low income communities with access issues.

I wasn't agreeing to the need to do it yet but agreeing to what she was saying about what they can/can't do legally.
