Ack. My skin is changing. I suspect I am peri menopausal and it’s wreaking havoc on my skin.
My skin tends to be combination but with my regular skin routine, my skin is very oily these days.
I’ve been babying my skin in the AM:
Cetaphil face wash, Klairs moisturizing toner, snail muscin, cetaphil moisturizer with SPF 50… (I haven’t been using sunscreen on top of this because it’s too much).
Once a week I do gentle exfoliating wash. I also occasionally use a resurfacing serum. I don’t do that everyday.
In the PM I’ve been keeping it simple.
Cetaphil face wash, and my night cream, Origins nit-a-mins
My skin isn’t handling more than that well. I don’t know how how to edit appropriately because I’ve never experienced skin this oily.
Any thoughts on how to adjust? I know my daily moisturizer is a problem, but I don’t know what to try instead seeing this hasn’t been an issue of mine before.
Damn aging!

kittyriot, your skin troubles and routine sound familiar to my own. I've edited out the cosrx 96 for now and it seems to be helping. So basically, morning wash with cetaphil, then klairs toner, then I use Neutrogena's triple age repair moisturizer w/ spf 25. I do use additional sunscreen (Biore aqua rich). Every other day, I use the Innisfree black tea moisturizing spray. Night, cetaphil foaming wash and more klairs toner. Once a week, I use the Innisfree green tea hydrating sleep mask. I don't know if that helps at all. Perimenopause sucks.

For me, when my skin starts to get more oily it means that my moisture barrier is weak and I need lots of thin, watery hydrating layers. Using what you have, you could try 2-3 layers of the Klairs toner and then something else to seal it in more. I use 4-5 hydrating, light layers after washing and before sunscreen. I personally have never found cetaphil or cerave products to work well for my face.
Products you might like: innisfree hydrating serum with green tea seed, innisfree youth enhancing serum with black tea, Cosrx aha/bha clarifying toner (applied with a cotton round after washing), canmake mermaid skin uv gel sunscreen, and earth’s recipe energy boosting toner. I use the Cosrx 96 snail mucin too, I don’t like the 92 version that is a cream. It just sits on my skin (but my daughter loves it 🤷🏻♀️).

The thin, watery, but hydrating layers is something I’ve been thinking about. I’ve used the Ordinary’s lactic acid in the past and that worked well for me. I was thinking of adding that back in. Thanks for the product suggestions, all things I’ve considered. So I will look and see.
