I'm so bummed you might have this too. It is definitely not to be trifled with, but I am happy to report that mine went away on its own by about 3 or 4 months post partum. It really sucks though and it is so painful. Just try to act like your knees are glued together all the time! Lots of rest helps too. Sorry again...I was also shocked by how few OBs and Midwives in the USA know about this condition. Don't let them blow you off if they seem whatever about it! Physical therapists that specialize in pelvic floor tend to be the most knowledgeable about it. 3 or 4 months PP?!?! I was hoping it'd go away instantly Wishful thinking. It's been SO hard not to cross my legs, I never noticed how much I do it while I sit at my desk. Currently sitting here with glued knees I had no idea physical therapists specialized in pelvic floor stuff, thanks for the info!! I will definitely be looking into that Please see a PT!! You can start seeing them while you are still pregnant, even. I am a physical therapist and see post-partum moms in the hospital with SPD. It definitely does not go away instantly, unfortunately, and can be a little worse immediately post-partum due to the baby passing through the pelvis. I can recommend a belt that helps too, both during pregnancy and post-partum, if you are having significant pain. It helps hold the pelvis stable.

Oh I can play in this thread.
When I strain - ever so foolishly - to go poop, I throw up. So, that's a fun new development. The muscles that would help me go to the bathroom also force food up my throat.
Fun stuff!

trinitrotoluene there's a wedding on H's side of the family Labor Day weekend and I said he can go but there is no way I'm flying at 32w with a 2yr old... I've been having lots of hip pain but thankfully seeing a chiropractor has helped alleviate most of it. I know it won't be 100% resolved until after delivery, but it's nice not having pain standing and walking. Also lots of reflux here... so so much acid reflux.

rachydc , oh no! Ugh about your SPD. Just caught up. I think most often, genetics play a role. I'm surprised your OB never asked about family history in regards to pregnancy. My sister and I have many pregnancy similarities except my IC this time. We both developed tendonitis PP. it was awful and lasted a year for me. Luckily I was in a mngt. role then otherwise working would've been excruciating. Also my joints are starting to "loosen" and joining you lot in the sciatica club ☹️. Anyways hang in there, we're in 3rd tri! We can make it in one piece!

Taitai ....SPD?!! Jeez...lady you can't seem to catch a break. ☹️ I had it with DS and didn't really think much of it! My mom had it too, so maybe I was expecting it? My body was not made for carrying babies 😅😂
