Hello! I'm happy to be at work. H came back from his conference in a mood. He's been moping/annoyed all weekend.

My day is almost over. Almost time to get the kiddo from camp. I had great big plans to work on certain parts of the house but alas... I just watched my shows, played on here, & planned some of our little vacay coming up.

I took DD to my mom's then I went to school and worked. I finished a desk that I had been refinishing, organized/cleaned my teacher desk and purged 2 cabinets worth of stuff. I feel like it was a successful couple of hours.

The bad thing about going on vacation is coming back to the office and having a giant backlog of work to do. I hope to be dug out and back into my normal routine by Wednesday.

We chatted the night he got back and it sounds like he had a great time. I haven't asked him WTF is his problem but I'll probably have to tonight.

Back to work after a really fun weekend. And after being super busy last week, after I dug through some things this morning, I'm now not so busy and the day is dragging by. It's days like today that while I'm at work I can't wait to get home and hang out with my kid, but I'm sure once we're back home and he's throwing a tantrum because he's hungry and dinner isn't magically ready the second he walks in the door, I'll be wishing he were back at day care, lol.

When we were in the garage getting out of the car DS said he was so glad to be back at playground camp with his friends. This is cute & all but baffles me because in the morning he wouldn't let me leave until they blew the whistle & wouldn't go socialize with said friends as per usual. Oy vey. Anyways, the camp is taking a trip on Thursday to an amusement park. Luckily, DS isn't keen on going as I'm not too fond of sending him. They're going to be gone from 8am-8pm. Sure this is great for the older kiddos but for his age group, no thanks. What's new this year is that they're welcoming parent chaperones but since we're planning on going away soon, I don't feel like spending the $. He's also under 48" so it eliminates a lot of rides as well. I talked about it really positively to prevent a meltdown because I was unsure how he was going to react since he mentioned tomorrow they're doing their t-shirts & he was confused about what they were talking about (they're tie dying shirts for the trip) so he told me he can't wait for his "day off" since I told him it's nice sometimes to have a day off to yourself & blah blah blah so at least he didn't freak out. Phew.

So yesterday when DH and I saw the back to school sales in paper we decided we'd go school shopping for DD. We went out and bought everything on her list. Now when the time gets closer, all we'll need to do is shop for clothes. Since we are going to be on vacation the week before school starts, I plan to get a jump on the clothes shopping too.
Question for all those with kids going into 1st grade or higher. Has it become the norm to buy supplies for the classroom? We had to get 8 boxes of crayons, 10 glue sticks, etc... The other odd thing to me was that the list said not to label anything and in that "non label" section was a backpack. Why would I not be able to label her backpack? I plan to ask when we go to orientation next month, but I though someone here might be able to shed some light on this.

I haven't done much walking today but I'm still in pain (shin splints). I think it's probably a good idea to skip barre tonight. Ugh. misspeansmama We didn't get any kind of list yet! I've been wanting to start school shopping. So far we only have his backpack.

I am not sure if we'll get it that early in the coming years.

Lol The only thing that was specifically for him in kindergarten was his supply box & scissors. The backpack thing is super weird. Maybe it was a typo? The backpack has always consistently been the thing TO label for us.

I just looked it up and it looks like most things are provided but individual teachers may suggest certain items. It will be a little while before we know whose class he is in so it makes sense now why we haven't relieved anything.

The thing with the school supply list I learned is that I guess there are some people that don't send supplies in so for those that do, at least the teachers get a decent stash in for the classroom. It really irks me to think of that though. If I'm expected to, everyone should. It may seem a lot on paper but everything for the class is probably like 20-30 bucks (I can't remember last year but it wasn't really that much.) People spend that much on nonsense all summer like come on, let's be fair.

DS has had this sporadic dry cough since last Tuesday or Wednesday. I chalked it up to space camp's building being so frigid with their AC but now I'm like wtf, why isn't this going away? We've given him cough syrup when it first started & it seemed to help a little but not much. He has no other symptoms either. He'll just cough once or twice every so often & keep it moving. I'm thinking about calling the nurse-line tomorrow. It's just really baffling.
