Morning. We wanted some outdoor time, but the kids weren’t feeling it, so we tackled the attic in stead. Lots of purging. But still so much crap. I’d be Marie Kondo’s worst nightmare ‘yes that makes me happy, yes that too, of that for sure makes me soooo happy’. I’m a sentimental blob who loves vintages bits and bobs and to make matters worse, so is my husband...
The big kids (it breaks my heart a little every time I write this, they are still my babies 😩) went of to sleep at my parents for the night. Dh and I are trying to decide what to do for dinner.

Morning. Happy Friday everyone! It's hot lunch at daycare, so no lunch making for me, B is online for school and with the crappy rainy weather I didnt have to do school drop off and it's vaccine day for me! My first shot and I might get a little teary as she injects me with that beautiful mRNA, my nerves are shot from the last 14 months and having a hope of returning to normal might just push me over the edge. BIG FEELINGS here today, I already feel sorry for my nurse

I hate packing lunches too. I feel the need to be creative and give them different stuff when they both are picky about different things. I need to embrace that it's ok to give them the same thing everyday. M was going to have hot lunch yesterday but we gave her a small lunch just in case it was something she didn't like. Glad we did because it was something gross. Most of the school lunches are nasty.

I used to be Miss Sentimental and held onto everything. After years of moving a lot and having a husband who is a total pack rat and two kids that add so much more STUFF I've embraced giving things away. This last move I gleefully chucked my old yearbooks in the recycle bin.

MH said C slept through the night and only reported moderate joint pain this morning. She hadn't tried to get up to go to the bathroom yet so I'm not sure about her mobility. I'm cautiously optimistic. She had a good morning yesterday though and the afternoon was horrible so I need to see a longer period of time before I'll believe it.
I'm wiped. This has been the longest week in the history of weeks.

No school ever does lunch here. So packed fruit & lunches all through high school (no lunch there either unless you want your kid to eat a Mars bar for lunch). BUT we’re Dutch, so lunch is a sandwich. Period. Ds gets a raisin roll every day because of his weird eating habits. If we’re extra fun we’ll chuck in a leftover pancake from the day before. Or some mini tomatoes for dd 🙈.

Our school districts gave free lunches to all students this year, even the remote learners. The pick up location was not doable for us, and really Cadence didn't need them. They have already said next year's lunches will be free as well.

They have already said next year's lunches will be free as well. This is one positive change that I hope will come out of the pandemic. Since it started our district has also provided free lunches and breakfasts to kids including to-go bags for the weekend. While they might not be high quality food, there's at least some fresh fruit and veggies and some food is better than no food to kids who are living in poverty. My mom grew up in extreme poverty and used to dig up raw onions and turnips from their garden to eat because she was so hungry. Speaking for the US, in a country with this much wealth it's despicable that we have hungry kids.

Our district also does free breakfast, lunch & dinner (although no dinner this year since they aren't doing aftercare). It was part of a grant they received a couple years ago. Daycare doesn't do lunches or snacks so I only have 1 more year of all that jazz for H.

Just out of curiosity what kind of meals are they serving? Things changed a bit because of covid but last year for breakfast: cereal, yogurt parfait, oatmeal, breakfast bars, fruit cups; lunch/dinner: tacos, tamales, pizza, chicken sandwich, burritos, clazone, chicken nuggets, - this also includes a fruit & veggie

They have already said next year's lunches will be free as well. Our school did the free lunches too. But S didn't want them. I think he didn't want to have to bring them home. He starts full days in a bit so it'll be interesting to see if he wants them then

Just out of curiosity what kind of meals are they serving? I dunno now since we are not doing it, but in K it was lunch that we paid for (they did have a reduced/free program for those that qualify. Every day they had a handful of choices like salad bar/bagel cream cheese/sandwich/hummus & vegie platter, then they would offer a hot lunch which rotated daily - pizza day, meatball sub, tacos, etc. It all always came with a choice of fruit & veggie from the "farm stand"

The kids' old DC did hot lunch too. There were no choices and it was one thing and rotated between pizza/chicken nuggets and fries/breakfast for lunch/spaghetti & meatballs etc. Allways with a fruit or vegie on the side.

That’s a great pic! tgrimes So pretty! Both the boys’ school pics came out good this year so I spent all the money. inthekitty Goad to hear she had a much better night. Hope today goes good as well for her. M2 knows that hot lunch life because his daycares always provided it. M does not because I always had to send his lunch. I’m hoping M2 continues to be unfazed by school lunches so I only have to send 1 lunch.

This last move I gleefully chucked my old yearbooks in the recycle bin. Same girl, same. I’m at my wits end with everyone else’s stuff. I want to be free of junk and never opened boxes. I allowed myself 1 medium-sized tub and a small box for memory stuff. The box primarily has old photo albums and some school stuff. The tub is filled with random items treasured from my youth, some of which I've already given to the girls. I do have a hope chest and that's where I put things from the kids I've allowed myself to keep. I'm very diligent about not letting it go beyond those spaces. It's more than enough for sentimental things. I despise having unopened boxes so I really worked on that my last two moves. It's very freeing to let it go.

Hi.
Busy day at work. Can’t wait to go home even though I have a lot of work at home waiting for me. We have to make the most out of my being here and get shit done. M has a game late this evening so I have to figure out what to pick up for dinner.
