I hope she can get the care she needs. lemondrop I went to go to the store the other day and realized (thankfully before I went in) that I hadn't brought a mask with me and was all "Wtf, crimson?? We've been doing this for a year!" 🤦♀️

I will be the lone voice of dissent and say I don't love my Betabrand yoga pants. I understand the appeal is that they are unstructured, but they didn't work to hold anything in on my post partum body after my last pregnancy. Maybe I was just expecting too much.

ozziebear and blablabirdie thinking of both of your family members. lemondrop I forgot my mask once camping last weekend and was mortified walking into the campground bathroom at 6 am realizing I had forgotten to grab it. Luckily there was only 1 person just leaving and I left as soon as I could!

My vets' office has been practicing curbside service since last March 2020. Human waits in car while pet sees vet in the building. Vet calls you with results of visit. Humans were allowed in for euthanasia, and the vet could also come to the home for that procedure as well.
Today - very first day they asked the humans if you want to come in too! I was actually so thrilled to see everyone!
Everyone masked, and all staff is vaccinated. I am as well, and now my girl kitty has her rabies shot (and senior panel bloodwork, urine, anal gland expression - it was kind of the horrible spa day for her).

Well OK! Scientists may have found a new coronavirus rapid-testing method: Bees By Marisa Iati www.washingtonpost.com/science/2021/05/07/covid-bee-testing/'Although it’s a less conventional method than lab tests, the scientists said teaching bees to diagnose the coronavirus could help fill a gap in low-income countries with limited access to more sophisticated technology, like materials for polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests... The scientists trained roughly 150 bees with a Pavlovian conditioning method in which they gave the insects a sugar-water solution each time they were exposed to the smell of the coronavirus. When the bees were presented with a sample that was negative for the virus, they received no reward. After repeatedly extending their tongues — technically called proboscises — for the sugar water, the scientists said the bees learned to stick out their tongues for a positive sample, even with no reward offered. Within hours, the insects were trained to identify the virus a few seconds after encountering it, the researchers said.'

They count to 4, they waggle their little bee bottoms, and they detect COVID19. 🤣

I simply can not understand why anyone cares if someone else chooses to wear a mask even if they don't have to.

I am not surprised. There is literally zero way for us to have everyone back 5 days a week otherwise. I really hope the focus on IAQ as promised though, which probably has a bigger impact in a contained classroom than 3 feet of space. ETA and oh the irony given the struggle to even get kids back in 2 days this spring. The SI is basically just shrugging this off now, he who wanted to keep 6 feet through the end of the school year and the school board had to overrule him.

And that's exactly why I'm displeased with there not being a virtual option. OK, you've limited infections to 1% with like 40% of the actual people in the building. And?

Oh snap. SUNY and CUNY boards will require vaccines for all in person students to be fully vaccinated, and cuomo is asking all private colleges to follow suit
He is also proposing a law that says places cannot bar individuals who are vaccinated (paraphrasing)

Who is discriminating against vaccinated people? I only know of one example but a butcher shop was recently in the news for prohibiting vaccinated people from entering their shop, claiming that vaccinated people shed the virus which causes miscarriage in pregnant women. link

A school in Florida was in recent news for the same thing
