I may be talking to myself, oh well. It’s not too late to start, calculate your April budget and get to it!

We'll have our deck project paid off by the end of the month, then we plan to tackle paying off my student loans. We've been doing a great job of not eating out and meal planning to keep that line item in check. We really need to continue through this month.

Oh and I’ve been using Every Dollar.
But I haven’t been strict about the budget. I budget what I know for the month, and then use it to track all my spending. Then at the end of the month I total my expenses, less our paychecks and transfer the money left to savings.
I have a misc category. So when I feel we over spent, that’s usually the big red flag area and I know the problem.
I already know vet bills will be the big spend this month. And June to august will be care for the older 2. Bye money!

I'm here this month. We had a V Expensive March and I need to spend very little this month to balance it out. Less food, both at the store and via doordash is my starting point.

Our outspending on food and miscellaneous hasn't been bad, but I need to get better at putting stuff into savings (aside from the RESP which comes out automatically). I just feel like we're still behind and there are things that I've been putting off for a year or more and I don't know how to balance things. V frustrating.

So this is kind of why I use Every Dollar, but don’t follow the rules. I create buckets, enter my expenses, then reflect on the month. I know where I’m spending and how much I’m saving each month.

I finally updated our spreadsheet with expenses from the last two months. Took forever. I won’t let myself get that far behind again!

I finally updated our spreadsheet with expenses from the last two months. Took forever. I won’t let myself get that far behind again! I discovered I can export my credit card transactions to a CSV file. I’m contemplating an excel spreadsheet so that I can just copy and paste it in 1 minute.
