My yoga studio is offering its annual teacher training starting in January, and if we sign up by August we'll have access to a payment plan. The cost would be similar to what we're paying for preschool now, and he's about to start K, so technically we could afford it.
I'm toying with the idea. They say you don't have to become a teacher to benefit from the training. You'll get a much deeper understanding of yoga and how it works with your own body as well as others. I think I would love it, but I'm not sure I can justify the cost.
I don't want to become a yoga teacher, although I think it would be fun to maybe do some classes with my son's class, or maybe with friends or family... It definitely would never be a full time job.
So, has anyone been through training? How was the experience for you, and how has it impacted your life? Please give me all the anecdotes as I ponder this. 😊

I've not done teacher training, but I've toyed with the idea as well. I have no advice, but wish you luck with the program.

I've done it and it was a wonderful experience. I definitely have used what I have learned and while I teach irregularly, I find it has influenced how I approach non yoga things in my life (if I let it). I think the non asana parts of the training are the most valuable.
In addition, it makes things like Yoga with Adrienne much better, as I can really take the direction and go deeper/explore the poses on my own without hurting myself. I do like having someone else direct my home asana practice though, it is nice not to be in charge.

If so, I don't see a good reason not to do it.
