I started tearing up. I’m so relieved that justice was served in the courts.

I’m so relieved for the black community here but there’s so much to be done.

He seems stunned. I don't know his face doesn't change. He really thought he would skate on the second degree charge.

There can never be justice for the Floyd family but at least they were spared further injustice.

I don't have words. I hope this brings the family some small bit of peace. Sending big hugs and love to everyone who needs it right now.

I just remember how heartbroken with the Trayvon Martin trial and I was scared to feel that pain again.

I think chauvin was prepared for what happened so he readied himself to be stone faced. Or he was shocked, either way.

We aren't out of the woods yet in terms of holding Chauvin accountable. We still have to go through sentencing and the judge could really fuck that up.

Is it just me or is 8 weeks to sentencing a really long time?
Granted, I haven't practiced criminal law in well over a decade, but why so long?

He was prepared to plead guilty to 3rd degree murder last year so I think he’s had a lot of time to think about spending time in jail.

Barely holding it together here at work. I was okay until I started thinking about his daughter at one of the protests saying that her daddy changed the world. She may very well be right. This verdict is certainly a step in the right direction.

We aren't out of the woods yet in terms of holding Chauvin accountable. We still have to go through sentencing and the judge could really fuck that up. They were just talking about the aggravating factors like a 9 year old being there, his position of authority as an officer.
But considering the judge apparently thinks its going to be overturned I'm not hopeful.
