I finally got through UAV! I was really frustrated at the last episode. I'd like to not hear from Brooke again, she's full of it and I don't want to hear her defend Bo's actions just because he was young. But, like others, I do want to hear more about the admin at her school covering it up.
I thought there was a new episode coming out today.

I'm fascinated by this case but the podcast is annoying me. I enjoyed the first few episodes, even if they were green, but it just seems to be getting worse.
Payne Lindsey is really fixated on fame. I found it amusing that he kept playing all the newsclips about his podcast being credited for bringing attention to the case. Pretty sure he has a Google alert and will find this thread.
And his "interview"/phone call with Brooke was just weird. What's with all the awkward pauses between them speaking? He sounds like he's reading a script. I also felt that he was trying and failing at the hard-hitting journalist shtick when he was "grilling" Brooke about why Bo didn't issue some kind of public apology. So weird.

I'm listening to the newest episode now. I don't find it as annoying as you guys do but I think I'm just compartmentalizing it well because I am so intruiged by this story.
The idea that her body was burning in front of a bunch of people at a party is just haunting.

But I could not understand what the hell the person in law enforcement person had said.

I didn't realize the new episode was out. I'm going to have to listen and see how much of it lines up with or touches upon what I've been reading about online.

I just finished the last episode.
I had not noticed the "her" car slip that Brooke made but I liked how Payne took credit for it and didn't mention the fan who brought it up in the Q&A (maybe he just eats all the crackers for me)
Also, I don't think pouring motor oil on a body would create enough heat to burn it any more effectively than a regular fire. I'm now googling what temps various oils burn at....

I was glad Payne addressed the group of friends and the body burning at a party in this episode, because these are the conversations getting the most traction on his message board.
Because I've been reading on there so much, I feel like I didn't learn much in this episode, but I'm hoping that eventually he may be able to reveal information that those posters don't have access to.

I find the case interesting, but I'm bored to death by the podcast. Payne is the worst. Something about the flow of his speech bothers me, I don't know how to put in to words what it is. I took a break after the Ryan Duke arrest episode because it's just not holding my interest. Does it get any better?

Payne is just grasping at straws to keep the podcast going. He spent an episode reading random public posts from Ryan's Facebook page and had a psychologist "analyze" them. I mean, one of the FB posts was just a quote from a Robert Frost poem. Others sound like song lyrics.

Obviously her car went somewhere and obviously Brooke isn't a credible or reliable reporter so I feel like that was a manufactured moment of drama. And I did totally miss what the garbled voice said. Like could not understand it at all. And I listened twice. Did it pretty much quash the idea that she was burnt in front of people because that has been haunting me.

I am almost through episode 19, and am so over Brooke. She is trying to get self pity for keeping information from the police for a month because she didn't know how the situation would turn if she went to them. She says that Dustin was being malicious, but I'm pretty sure she was the first one to throw stones when going to the police when she and Bo broke up. I have no doubt she is in it all for the money and just upset because some of her truths are coming out. You are not a victim woman.

Talk about trying to keep yourself relevant. You knew your bf burnt a human body, you kept that to yourself until you thought it could get you money and publicity and now you are trying to make it about you. Fuck off Brooke.

I think that the oil would have burned hotter than wood but has a much higher flash point so it works best if you add it to a fire that is alreayd burning hot (400+ degrees f) but I do kind of buy the smell theory. Burning oil smells terrible

I think Bo was a lot more involved than either he or Brooke are letting on. I think the two of them took time during that "month" to get a story together that they could both try and stick to so he could do the immunity plea. I don't think they should be eligible for the reward since he is a convicted felon that owes money to the government. It should go straight to pay for that debt and nothing else. I don't think they every really broke up either. Maybe had an argument and took a break, but I think they are still together and did things this way to try and benefit from it. I'm not sure that the podcast itself had anything to do with the case being solved (at least not his work directly), but maybe knowing that the story was going to get attention again, it was the final straw for Bo to finally "confess" his involvement. The case itself is intriguing. I'm glad that her family finally has some kind of answer, even if it isn't the entire truth.

Diesel has a pretty distinctive smell too but maybe at a bush bonfire it's less out of place.

I'm sure everyone in town is listening and talking about it and those two, Bo in particular, were getting antsy and worked out their best shot at making their issues go away. He gets immunity, she gets the money and they both get a book deal (probably). And they never broke up. I don't buy that for a second

I just have so much distain for her. Like sometimes I get more riled up over her than the fact that Ryan and Bo KILLED Tara. I often need to check myself on that.

+1 to laughing out loud the first time voice-over guy came on. I have been annoyed with Payne quoting himself/playing clips of him being mentioned/taking credit for the arrest when he garnered attention but he was no where near what happened before the arrest.
I am invested though so i will keep listening. I also think that maybe the only way to stop that many people from talking is to have had them actively participate a la How to Get Away with Murder. If they all burned the body, that would provide the incentive for not talking.
I want to know more about the DA's son. Because that I could see. Also I do think Ryan was involved but that he is solely taking the fall because of the access to health care in the jail. Also, maybe he really doesn't remember the night, but he has been led to believe that he solely did it by Bo.

Did anyone listen to the latest episode. While the guy is annoying, I appreciated his callout so much to the people who didn't say anything for so long. I'm still clutching my pearls that people kept their mouths shut after watching a body burn. Disgusting.
I also thought the fight thing was interesting and once again the convoluted small town cover up.

He's oddly defensive, and while I know he's getting a lot of not great attention in it still seems over the top.

Serial was the first podcast I ever listened to a few months ago. i couldn't stop listening....
I can't even force myself to finish this. It's so boring. Maybe because we knew who it was kinda early? Idk...i just need to move on I think, lol.

I have followed this case for many years and was thrilled when I heard a podcast was being made. Turns out, I had to stop listening around the time RD was arrested because Payne grates my nerves so much.
