leatherpants, I buy your theory too. It's so hard with the evidence in her house because it could be evident of an attack, but could easily be staged, too.

I have thought since episode 1 that someone went back to her house to clean up and that's why it looked like it did and that's why the glove was there.

{Spoiler: Click me}Okay.
First off, I strongly believe the theories that Tara was not murdered at home. I believe that she either went home and changed quickly/put phone on the charger and then left again, likely of her own volition. Her changed clothes and shoes. dog staying outside, and the likelihood that her body would have remained in her house if that's where she was killed (rather than lugging it out of the house) all lead me to feel this is probably true. This makes a lot more sense actually. I always kind of thought that since Tara sent that text to that one guy that she was cold - which was totally an invitation - that she was open to hooking up with someone that night. And that maybe she saw Ryan walking down the road and stopped to chat with him. Maybe he invited her to a party out there and then things got carried away, she died, they burned the house... I could get on board with this actually . So really, I don't know what I think {Spoiler} There are a lot of theories about Tara looking for sex that night, and that things went wrong when she was hooking up with someone (or refusing to hook up with someone).

What I gathered from Dr. Godwin posting on the UAV discussion board: {Spoiler: Click here}-He thinks that Tara's murder was personal and was not accidental.
-He stands by his assessment that there was a struggle inside the house, and thinks that it's possible Ryan and Bo returned the car/dropped the glove, but did not go inside the house again after dumping her body.
-He says that he doesn't think we can totally rule out Snapdragon Road.
Also within the discussion, it sounds like there is speculation that Tara was having an affair with her principal or someone else at school, and possible theories about Troy Davis (the superintendent whose BBQ she was at that night) or Joe Portier (her neighbor) being involved. I'm not in deep enough to have read and kept up with everything, but I am just riveted by all of the possibilities. It seems that there is just as much unknown now that they have suspects as there was when it was unsolved.

That's interesting. I started to follow that thread last night but fell asleep. I did see the stuff he said about Ryan's DNA probably being on the glove. Was this known before? I don't think I knew but I'm not great at paying attention to detail

I believe Brooke was motivated by the reward money, and she and Bo are in this together. Sorry Brooke, I don't buy the whole story that Bo is a tortured soul who was on the verge of suicide. It just doesn't add up with what we've heard so far. I wish Payne had pressed her on why someone like that would be trolling the message board.

I don't think I knew but I'm not great at paying attention to detail I think it was speculated, since they have to have something to tie him to the crime besides the testimony of others.

I love this podcast but I'm starting to get annoyed with Payne. It feels like he draaaaaags everything out. I skipped through some of his interviews.

I am obsessed. I found this in one of the discussion threads on the UAV website: {Spoiler}"Tara was killed because BD did not like BC & Tara's relationship – in whatever capacity it may have been. Bo arranged for Ryan to kill Tara. This is what I was told by several people who don't know each other. She went to hang out w/ people we know about between the BBQ & being killed. Snapdragon came into play. Other details I do not know."
BC (Barry something, I forget his full name) was the superintendent of schools at the time, with whom Tara was allegedly having an affair. He is also... Bo Duke's uncle. According to several posters, this is why it's been covered up for so long. It's also alleged that the DA's son might have been present, which is another reason it's likely that it was covered up.
Not sure why it's coming out now, unless they were feeling pressure from the podcast (or Brooke and co. talking about going after the reward) and decided to offer Ryan up for sacrifice while protecting the others. There is also discussion on the threads that the DA's son "came forward first" and is the one who actually has full immunity. He's also living out of state currently, which is suspected to be him trying to get far, far away.
They are also saying that Tara was killed at her house by someone who was waiting there for her (likely Ryan Duke) after being brought home by someone else (suspected to be Bo Dukes) after going out following the BBQ.

I didn't realize there were more episodes, because I gave up after RD was arrested. There were so many extra episodes and additional facts that I just no1curr the whole thing. But I'm going to start catching up on Episodes 15-end now.
Before I do, I just have to vent about my feelings about episodes 1-14.
1. Payne is making this podcast way too much about him and his feelings. It's annoying. 2. Why does he keep using that creepy voice-over artist to re-tell segments of the story? I laughed in the first episode when he said it was a friend of his. Sure, ok, you hang out with a low budget Dateline NBC wannabe. 3. Payne really lucked out in this podcast resulting in an arrest. The arrest had nothing to do with the entirety of the podcast and all the interviews. It annoys me that I wasted all this time worrying about totally off-base theories and wild goose chases. Especially after Payne himself said that he tried to avoid dead ends and unrelated issues. Like, we worried about the weird immigrant student for hours. 4. No one taught him how to edit interviews to keep listener interest. It seems like he just plays back entire poorly-recorded phone conversations. I lose interest quickly. 5. No, I will not buy any of this shit you keep trying to sell me for 2 minutes out of every 10 minutes.
Basically, I have no desire to hear Payne make another season. I think he lucked into this becoming popular, but not because he actually made a good podcast. It's really rough and amateur hour.

I also think the super dramatic music played after every single thing is so ridiculous. Tara ate PORK at the bbq...**cue creepy music**

I agree, Payne is not a great podcaster- he just had a good topic and got EXTREMELY lucky.
And that LeTote add w/ his wife talking about the skirt is the most annoying thing I've ever heard

I would agree that I am not a huge fan of the podcast itself (or Payne), but I'm really into the case at this point. I've recently been reading a lot about the case from the locals' perspective, and I actually like the podcast even less because there seem to be so many interesting avenues that Payne is ignoring while instead "wasting time" on non-stories.

I agree with what brux said. It is no serial by any means. Yet, I am really invested in finding out what happened and what the real story is. I don't believe that RD was the mastermind here.

Is the suicide note and the 12 names connected to RD & BD? I have been reading on the UAV website's discussion board. I have also read Dusty Vassey's blog (the Ocilla reporter). There are locals who post and share information that they know/witnessed and what they suspect based on who they know, and many corroborate the information. Dr. Godwin posts on there too sometimes and I believe he said there were 18 names on the list from the suicide (he has seen the GBI list). Someone had leaked a list of initials on the UAV board that Payne had shared in a private Facebook group; that list had 16 names (Payne got the list from Dr. G minus two names). It's since been taken down, but a lot of the locals said that they didn't really understand what that list was supposed to be, since a lot of those people didn't actually interact or go together. They were also trying to guess who were the two names that were left off of the list. BD and RD are not on the list, nor are their names the missing ones according to Dr. G.

According to what I've read, RD was known for getting blackout drunk. It is suspected that he did so that night and was told the next morning (or later on) that he had murdered Tara. There are also rumors that he was paid off to take the fall (supposedly the person offered to take care of his mom financially).

I have not read anything, so I am probably missing details that Payne left out. Which is annoying in itself. He keeps emphasizing that it's SO unbelievable that Ryan could do this and there is no info/history/anything that would make it seem plausible. If what you are saying you read is accurate--this is not the case. There is some reason to believe he could do this. It feels like Payne is intentionally obscuring information to create more drama and keep the story going. Like if he included what you said, he wouldn't be able to continue to insinuate that we are still missing part of the story. In fact, I wonder if he wasn't happy that the GBI solved the case but rather disappointed because it took the wind out from under his sails.

mack that's what the locals are accusing Payne of too. Most say that RD could easily have been involved, but it is very highly unlikely that he was the mastermind or acted alone. Either he did it at Bo's urging or didn't do it and was made to think that he did/to take the fall.

And I covered a lot in the spoilers above, but many have information that supports that this has been a coverup involving the DA and/or administrators in Tara's school. Why not focus on that storyline? It's more compelling than what he's doing. Instead he's going to keep picking apart the Brooke call. Everyone already knows it's nonsense.

I agree with all of those criticisms of Payne and the podcast. Which is why I skipped over all of the damn Q&As etc. Too much. And I have kind of forgotten about the voice over guy. That was hilarious. And Payne is pretty a pat-himself on the back guy but he's enthusiastic so I grant him a lot of grace. He's pretty green on this.
I do think the podcast can at least be credited with getting this story a bunch of attention again and probably turning up the heat on R and B - and Brooke. Like I don't think it's a coincidence on timing. I bet it worried BD and Brooke that people were talking about it and they figured they'd want immunity and the reward money.
I really want to hear more on the administration coverup thing. Small towns, man. Everyone is connected.

He's gotten close with Dr. Godwin and Holloway, but neither of them are officially on the case. I think he's pretty much gotten stonewalled by the GBI and local police. It's definitely a huge risk to go after those entities, and obviously you'd want to make sure that you had solid sources and that it's founded in some truth. But, according to the people who posted on his discussion board, they shared their information with Payne and he hasn't followed up with them at all. Again, who knows what the truth is, or if any of this is even legitimate, but either way I think there's a lot more interesting directions to go than continuing down the Brooke path.
