Guys, I just had someone mansplain to me that the officer's "he had a bad day" comment was taken out of context. Am I taking crazy pills? I'm trying to imagine a context in which that description would have been OK.

Then why did they apologize and he is taking a step back? Your job is a spokesperson. Carefully choosing your words is kind of part of the deal. apparently in the manner that he was apparently quoting the guy and those weren't his direct words??? !!! That's what I told him, I said even if it was a direct quote from the murderer, it shouldn't have been said. And apologies were made so something went wrong. And I told him to sit the fuck down and let women be outraged because it's making him look a type of way by splitting hairs. White male fragility in action, and I would love to say that to him but close ties and all. Apparently. Edit: lots of edits The thing about that officers statement is the entirety of it was explicitly designed to defend the murderer. “He said it wasn’t race based, he said he understood the gravity, he was having a bad day.” It was all put out there to deflect from the narrative of it being a hate crime and to humanize this monster, for whatever reason (I’m sure we could all make good guesses). So yeah, all the mansplainers need to take several seats and think about why they are splitting hairs over specific phrases. Why are they focused on that and not the tragic deaths that occurred. (Hint: it’s white supremacy and patriarchy). 😒

I want to do screenshots of everything but that will take some effort..there's a lot of comments from dudes who are....wait for it .. libertarians/media bad..like it was the media's fault for "twisting" what the guy said.

To hell with that

I will say, seeing one of the go fund me accounts already at two million dollars was soothing? I dunno, I can’t think of the right word.

As I am not the best with words, I can’t place the word you may be searching for either. It is almost comforting that that many people would put money towards helping the families ease the one burden strangers can in these **all the fucking words** situations.. To know that most people give small amounts and for it to add up to $2m is a lot of people who are also feeling at least similarly. Now I’m rambling

Now I’m rambling I think it’s reassuring, like looking for the helpers during a tragedy. It’s a reminder that a whole lot of good exists on the world, too. I got choked up seeing that GFM. Maybe there’s a German word for this feeling...
