:files away for the "No gov't, free market" fuckers: I read something when this first came out that people were told to look to charitable orgs or federal programs for assistance with these large bills. What a crock. the american way!

For the sake of discussion, I could squint and see that a law saying that any assistance offered to people waiting in voting lines must be nonpartisan in nature might be ok. No candidate labels on water bottles or coffee cups, no indication of party on tee shirts, nothing much more than 'thank you for voting', basically no electioneering no matter how far from the polling place the line may go. But going beyond that seems ridiculous to me. And, again, when I've run into this in my county (fairly split red and blue) the folding chairs outside the polling place were unmarked and provided by the county. Has it been different in other areas? At my early voting place a lot of us were holding spots for elderly persons/persons who were (visually) physically impaired so they could sit on the benches closer to the door. it was just completely done voluntarily by the people in line and the poll watchers/volunteers. Ours wasnt long enough for food and water but the day I went it was full sun and a good 30-40 minute wait. NOBODY should have to do that to vote.
There was nothing partisan in that.

Were there any common elements to the tax returns being held up that people have identified? I filed early, it was accepted on opening day (which was a little later this year), and I've had my refund for a couple of weeks. Granted, simple return filed via TurboTax, and I always pay TurboTax's fees via charge card, not out of anticipated refund. No nothing universal. People of all varieties of filing. Mine is pretty simple too. MFS, claiming 3 kids, no other complicated situations, aside from Schedule H for my nanny. My H is doing our house stuff on his return. There is really no reason mine should be delayed or flagged. I also did mine turbo tax - MFJ, 1 kid, nothing special. My return was accepted but it's still processing 3 weeks later.

I wish I could gif how happy I am right now. Missouri is still a Republican stronghold, unfortunately, but in our major cities, we're solid blue.

The EO gives the Secretary of Education authority to immediately rescind any Trump/DeVos era policies and instructs him to review all current department policies to ensure equity on the basis of sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation

The counsel is taking immediate and short term steps, but is more broadly seeking "long term, structural changes" to help the advancement of women

Ms Klein is pushing back on the notion that the counsel isn't directly taking action on the loss of women from the workforce during the pandemic by highlighting the provisions in the ARP to address caregiving, paid leave, affordable childcare, child poverty and hunger, etc

Jen's talking about the further subsidization of ACA premiums in the ARP. That reminds me I should look and see if we can get a better plan on the exchange with those new limits.

There's no concerted effort to put POTUS' signature on the relief checks
Lol.
Jen says she anticipates checks going out by the end of the month.

Reaction to the Harry and Meghan interview?
Jen: they are private citizens now. Talking publicly about those struggles and mental health takes courage. We have a special relationship with the government of the UK
