My boss finally contacted me this afternoon. What I expected vs what happened were totally different. I have to come up with the strategy for how I am going to train the idiot I work with, who has never taken any initiative in the 5 years I've worked there. He has 8 suppliers, I have 100. I laughed out loud, much longer than I should have, when he told me he was going to have Jackie do my work. So I guess I'll be going into the office to train him. Its going to be an absolute shit show, the communication barrier will make it difficult and I think he would learn better with step my step instructions, but whatever. I voiced my opinion about our data being loaded incorrectly and i spend a majority of my time correcting mistakes...his response was 'that happens in all integrations.' When I said something about the extra hours SAP had caused, working late evening and on weekends, he said 'yeah, well, its what we do.' No fucker, it doesn't have to be. An apology for how this all went down would have gone a long way in how the next 2 weeks play out. Any sick time that you won’t get paid out for that you can use? I hate recommending that but damn these people! ETA: sorry about E. Can they give her ibuprofen or naproxen at school?

mwhip will you have any flexibility once you get settled in the new job? So that maybe once in a while you can drop off or pick up? How far is the new job from your house and her school? I'm thinking once I get established it will be an option to WFH a day or 2 a week. New job is 11 miles from home, but a busy commute (for Kansas City, lots of interstate). They sound like they're flexible and family oriented. That's awesome. The KC Interstate is no joke. Years ago when I was driving across country I passed through it. This was back in the Garmin or Tom-Tom days. I had the voice set to Yoda and that little green dude was working overtime with his "Turn right you shall" and "To the left you shall keeps" as I was working my way across the city. I've never had to make so many damn shifts to stay on the same road. Re: The "that's the way it is by your soon-to-be-former boss. I hate that attitude! I was frustrated with people this weekend at work pulling the same shit. I was like "NO!" With some actual effort and leadership things can improve but not with that crappy attitude. I second wedding and would take SL if you have it.

wedding I dont think they would approve any time I have, if I asked for time off. I've only accrued 24 of the 144 hours I get annually, so that's all I'll get paid for, which pisses me off. I need to work until at least March 1 so I keep my insurance the entire month, until its effective 4/1 at the new place. inthekitty I'm sure you were much farther north and me, in KC proper, I'm in the suburbs, so changing lanes to get your exit in 200' isn't a thing out here. But a lot of people commute from out here into downtown. My last job was farther north, but way on the west side of town, with little traffic. I love your Yoda GPS instructions!

Dh and I are going to be buying bikes soon. Do you guys have any advice? This will be for riding with the kids mostly. I’m 5’2 and am wondering if I should just get a kids bike because I’m so short. I dont' think you need a kids bike because you can adjust the seat height. When I got mind I went to Academy and Walmart and sat on a bunch to see what I was most comfortable with. I also ended up getting a padded seat off amazon because mine hurt my butt.

mwhip congrats on the new job! And your current boss sounds like a jerk..he's lucky you are around to help train, in mh's field if you quit, you get walked out immediately and everyone has to figure out how to pick up from there😬. tgrimes ouchh on those stitches, j had a very similar spill in the tub 2 years ago. If it's under his chin, hopefully any scarring won't be noticeable. @trlcrzy bike shopping is exciting! Hopefully more are in stock than last year, they were hard to find last year when I looked..I never ended up getting one.

Our firm only pays 2 weeks accrued sick and all of your vacation. But you aren't allowed to take any of that time once you put in your 2 weeks. Otherwise, you won't be paid all of you time accrued.

tgrimes hope H feels better today. mwhip I feel so bad for E, I hope her knee is better. DD got her contacts. She is struggling but got them in and out a few times alone. I had my work observation and it was fine but weird because my boss kept her camera off except for a quick wave when a kid noticed a name he didn’t recognize and said a stranger broke into our meet.

kim22 I wore contacts from the time I was a freshman until about 7 years ago. I remember sitting in the store with someone trying to show me how to put contacts in...it took forever. And you couldn't wear them long at first, so getting them in and out took FOREVER. She will get the hang of it in no time and be taking them out with one hand in the dark!

Thanks guys. We have a couple of local bike shops so maybe I’ll stop into one of them next week to get their expert opinion. I haven’t had a new bike since middle school so this is fun.

Hello!! It’s been crazy. I just finished filling out my FAFSA for the upcoming school year. Tomorrow I’m applying for my MBA. I’ve been approved by the program/work to go ahead and apply even though I haven’t officially finished my bachelors. I could start as early as the end of April. I’m a little crazy.
I also booked my flight/hotel/car for my commencement in June.
