inthekitty I hope the work from home deductions help us. DH’s company pays bonuses in February but they merged last year and the new company paid bonuses on December 29th after we thought there would be no bonus this year so we have a major first world problem of 2 bonuses paying in the same year that may have pushed us up a bracket.

I requested a transfer at work from middle school to preschool. I haven’t told many people and I think the person I made the request to was very surprised. I also don’t know who else knows so I get anxious each time I have to talk to one of my many bosses.

Just work up after 5 hours of sleep. I was up for 28 hours straight. I’m trying to decide to go back to sleep or do something’s around the house so I can get back to my normal sleep schedule tonight.

You need to relax.  Take a shower, lounge around.  Don't worry about the house, that will be there when you get caught up on work and sleep!

Somewhat related, I follow a pilot spouse group on FB and the woman who runs it is based in TX. There are airline pilots stranded all over the state in hotels, etc. without food, power or water. They were scooping water out of hotel pools to flush toilets and bathe in. Pretty crazy. She was organizing 'relief' efforts for them if other local pilots/spouses were able to take hot meals or house people. Good to see people helping out in tough times.

Hi.

Busy day here, and I thought it would be kinda quiet! At drop-off this morning, my sister's car wouldn't start (our kids are at same preschool). So we transferred all her carseats, stroller, etc. to my car and went back to my house so she could call a tow truck. Comedy of errors...her AAA coverage lapsed 2 days ago, and her insurance has roadside assistance but State Farm's system was down nationwide so they really couldn't help her. Meanwhile we're calling tow companies and everyone is booked, or not answering! Finally found one and I take her back to the preschool; BIL shows up about this time so I was off the hook. My sweet niece slept through the whole thing, ha.

My dryer is finally fixed and I feel like women everywhere must've felt the first time they dried a load of clothes without putting everything on a clothesline I'm doing allll the laundry right now.

Leftover chili and grilled cheese sandwiches tonight and hopefully early bedtimes for all.

FYI last night we watched a Bear Grylls Netflix special that was Choose Your Own Adventure style. The kids loved it. Today we discovered they have a whole bunch of Choose Your Own Adventure type shows (which you can search for with that term). A big hit.

lfig litter boxes are why tigger will be our only and last cat. He doesn't use one. I hate litter boxes and can't guarantee another cat won't need one. He goes out the doggie door like the dogs do. I'm with your husband on it lol.

Quoting myself to add, we didn't make or train him to do it. He just discovered the doggie door and stopped using the litter box. After a few months of it sitting unused, I got rid of it.

I have so many reasons for asking for a transfer that I don’t even know what my real reason is anymore. The short story is DS hated that I work in his school and DD isn’t excited about it either (she goes there in the fall). I asked to get out of my current subject area but it’s unlikely that will happen because not many people have the certifications I have and I realized I’m not excited about any of the other options I would have in that school. I love the kids, it would never be because of them. I went into teaching planning to teach kindergarten, fell into middle school and loved it but I don’t like the direction my department has gone in and I had been sorta half kidding about a transfer to preschool with my sister and then the next day, I saw a retirement in exactly what I wanted. I figured I better speak up before someone else did. I seems like a long shot but we will see. guster, yes my hours would change and I think that’s why I held on as long as I have because my hours worked for my family but with C being so young, it’s like another decade and I can’t do what I have been doing for that much longer.
