Hi!
We’re doing a real lot really soft reno on the basement. Basically installing a ceiling, painting the walls as they are and putting down some carpet tile. The former owners stared to frame it out, but quit half way through so mh will work on that area eventually. We just want to create an extra space for the kids to run around in the winter, and have a place to store the bigger toys. I don’t think it’ll be finished until the early spring (maybe even summer) but it will be nice to have that space available. We sealed the floor this weekend, and hopefully next weekend we will start painting the walls, if I can choose a color.

Things are weird over here. We’ve had full blown riots (including looting 😳) in cities throughout the country because of the curfew that has been in place since Saturday night. It is beyond ridiculous. It people rioting to riot and nothing else. They charged a hospital for heavens sake. What in the world.
I had another challenging morning homeschooling with ds. I’m heartbroken for him. He’s so angry and frustrated. He hates the unknown, new and ‘isn’t as its supposed to be’. We normally see this side of him a few times a year, for example when he has to try on new shoes. It is not that it’s to hard, most of the stuff is way to easy for him, so that’s not the thing. Fingers crossed school will reopen sooner then later.

We struggled with that in the spring a bit. Can you come up with something a little more challenging? (ie S excels in Math and the math lessons in the fall were ridiculous. So we started doing our own thing. One of his favorites was Math war where you play war with 2 cards each and you have to add the 2 cards and the higher total wins. We also played a lot of dice games. One day we brought our all our change and had him roll up the coins and count how much money it was. It made it a bit more fun for him and kept him from feeling like his lessons were "stupid".

nam2013 I still have a sore throat. I’m thinking allergies maybe 🤔. I’ve texted cagoldi lately. She’s struggling but surviving. Just a lot happening all at once.

I'm at work. Bright and early. I had to pick up the office groceries, then come in. Nothing major happening here. Hoping I can finish my book that I technically should have finished this weekend.

jewels like yours, he’s ridiculously good in math, we’ve picked up more advanced work for him, so that he likes doing. What he’s struggling most with are the fine motor skills, he knows how to write the words, but it’s taking so much time to actually write them down. Plus I’m just not his teacher and do everything different according to him (which I’m sure is true.)

I’m so sorry Ds is struggling, @nam. It’s really hard when it isn’t their routine.

Morning. Regular day here, except we have H’s zoom conference tonight. nam2013 I’m sorry it’s crazy there. People are definitely losing their minds after all of this time in quarantine.

nam2013 could you reach out to his teacher (or hell, fake it) and see if she can reassure him about its okay that mom and dad do things differently than she/he does?

Charlie’s been snotty and congested since Saturday so I didn’t send him to school today. When I called the pediatrician, they suggested that he take a covid test just in case. She’s thought the probability of it being covid was low, but he will have to quarantine until he gets the results. Fingers crossed and good vibes, everyone.

He made labels and drew pictures (ie mom and dad's room w/ a pic of the 2 of us) for everything. He loved it and it kept him busy/writing for like an hour.

Both boys are at school and A is at work. Just me and my tiny hurricane. Shes been up since 5 am and I'm expecting her to conk out when we go get Jackson. Hopefully she naps for a while. Mommy needs a break..
I feel great, I'm definitely healing because I gave to fight the urge to itch.. but I have a call in to see when I can switch to a different bra. The neck pain from the sports bras is driving me nuts.

I don't think I checked in this weekend. Friday night I thankfully did not freeze to death. My friend and I had a lot of fun and it was really needed. Saturday both kids had swim lessons. Note to self, I should not attend H's swim lessons anymore because he kept looking upstairs to the wait area and waving/screaming hi to me. Yesterday was cleaning and laundry day. Super exciting stuff.

I've been looking at puzzle boards and tables. Then penny-pinching me decided to just buy a framed bulletin board instead. I'll attach snaps so that I can have a cover for it so the cats don't mess up whatever puzzle I'm trying to build. So basically $80 vs $20, for essentially the same product. I mean, it won't have drawers for the pieces or anything, but I didn't really need that. I just needed a space to actually do the puzzles.

We got a bunch of puzzles for Christmas, I just started doing them two weeks ago. I use one of the kids art trays for it and just leave it on the playroom table. It’s been so fun!

I got nothing but work today. I have butterfingers and keep dropping everything. My coworkers must think I’m so clumsy today.

MH's grandfather has covid. He's not sick yet but he fell at the nursing home and when they took him to the hospital to check for broken bones, they tested him. No broken bones but they're keeping him to monitor. I have no idea what the protocol would be for sending him back to the nursing home though. He's 92 so I hope he'll be okay.

I've always been tempted by those coffee tables that raise up. Ultimately I think my current cheap way (using a big piece of cardboard that is scored in half so I can cover it when not working on it) is the method I'd probably be happiest with. I think your bulletin board idea is good. Mainly I like that it's not so heavy I can't move it around.

MH just called me. Bad news is that Germany not happening...yet. He was told they usually go with people who are already in the company and they probably have someone in mind already. But that just means we may have a shot down the road.
Good news is that they offered him the job he interviewed for last week. I didn’t want to go to this particular location, but he feels this is the right location to get acclimated to this world. It’s an hour north of Nashville. I’m not thrilled and would rather be in NC, but that may not be the best situation for him going into this brand new. Hopefully this is just a step to get us closer to living abroad in the next few years.

Has anyone tried Imposters? It’s a scripted bravo show that Netflix just picked up. Two seasons. I love it so much. Almost done with season one, and really can’t wait to see where it’s going. It’s darkly funny.
