See? It had nothing to do with her previous post. Assholes. I would be deeply uncomfortable with my children not being able to get in the house if something was wrong. We have had a lot of talks of coming straight inside if there are strangers on the street or anything that makes them nervous. We do not have a door code and we rent, so no that is not a solution at the moment. I simply tell my kids to knock it off. Loudly. It was your fault I didn't RTMFT You're dismissed.

A restaurant I worked in had housemade blue cheese dressing and housemade ketchup. The steak fries were amazing and we all used to mix the ketchup and dressing together and use as a dip for the fries. In my 43 years of life, it remains the second best condiment I have had. What's the first? Some sorcery that came with the grilled artichokes at The Hitching Post II restaurant in Solvang, CA. I don't know what the ingredients were.

OK, but what if there is an electric box in the middle of the yard? and dog poop. They're my pooper-scoopers. So it works.

Have locked my children out before. They're obnoxious about outside time - in and out, in and out, door left cracked, slamming it. They're 11, 12, and 7. Would not do with a toddler. Duh. They know the code for the front door, but it at least slows them down. Sammmmmmeeeeee Jesus Christ they drive me nuts with the in & out. & telling them to pick a side is fine & all but truth be told, I want them outside playing vs inside playing if at all possible. But when its 107° they do need to come in & rest/get a drink. & then you have 3 kids playing with 3 different neighbors kids doing different things at different times, it just equals a lot of in & out at the RoN house

The kid could just mow the lawn We actually don't own a lawn mower. But we have like 200 SF of lawn space, including the village parkway. It keeps the poop in one small area. Easy pickings. But no one has been plopping signs in my yard (lately - Tammy Duckworth's people did once).

Me too? My house has a front door and 3 back doors, one in my room, one in the living room, and one in the dining room. They are all big glass doors. Like french doors but only one side opens, not sure if those are still french doors or not, and lead out to my back porch. #humblebrag this is how I feel about the previous “we have a 3000+ house”

YOu'd lock your child outside? What? There was 50% TIC there. But yeah if my kid is incessantly running in and out, that's an issue. For me. There'd be some sort of solution I'd come up with. But I also don't see a situation as abusive where a kid got locked out for 30 minutes because he couldn't stop running in and out of the house 🤷♀️ I do not understand why it would be an issue for a kid to be in and out playing all day. It’s good for kids to be outside, and if they need to come inside to pee, get water, snacks, whatever, and go back out to play.

Maybe our next house 🙃 Because of aforementioned gun hatred, and aforementioned too much true crime intake, my kids can't go into other's houses. It's a strict rule. Because of not previously mentioned hatred of all children who are not my own, no one is allowed in mine either. *If someone is bleeding or yada yada. I will not workshop this with you all either.

I usually send my kids out with ice water and snacks and having had used the bathroom already. Theres no reason to come back in 5 minutes later. For me going in and out is like every ten minutes, not coming in and out throughout the span of a day
In covid times its been much worse honestly, they only have each other in our backyard and get bored a lot quicker and want to come in. Thats usually when I'm like no you need to stay out for awhile
**they have a playset, trampoline, bikes and all sorts of shit to do in case i need to specify lol

They annoy me with this a lot but I just, you know, parent when I hit the breaking point. "DS, go to the bathroom and get a drink of water. And then stay outside unless there's a problem." Yeah, it's because it's not just going in and out once every 15 minutes. It's 30 straight minutes of swinging the door back and forth, slamming it, whining about something, trying to sneak things outside, riling the dogs up, etc. I love when they're playing outside. It just like - go and stay for 5 minutes at a time. There's three of them doing this. Boys with ADHD. It's... a lot. We do tell them to stop. It doesn't matter. There's always one more thing they forgot. My favorite was a few summers ago they were playing in the front and back. One of them yelled "Dash is locked in the shed!", and neighbors flagged down a cop, and they came to check it out to make sure we hadn't actually locked our kid in the shed. So we got to explain to the kids that "lock each other in the shed" isn't an acceptable game. Or at least, don't be loud about it.

Not 3 times in 4 hours. If that makes sense. For me it's the incessant, unnecessary oh wait I forgot this, oh my gosh mom look at this. No, get outside or inside and choose a lane.

Same. If theyre playing with other kids its riding bikes in the neighborhood or in someone's yard. We don't really do inside houses and I don't like other kids running through my house on a daily basis. Of course if its like a play date situation or we invite friends over, that's different

We probably should have owned a gun while living with the bears, but I would always waffle on what would be more traumatic: loosing someone to a bear or loosing them by shooting them accidentally while trying to save them from a bear.
