Hola. We dropped B at school and then picked up a grocery order. Should be enough to last the kids for a couple days B has been eating SO much lately, I weep for our future grocery bills. We have ballet and basketball practice today, and after lunch the guy from the roof company is coming out for a final walk-over and to pick up a check. I really need to fold some laundry. Exciting stuff.

Morning! The nurse got approved to go ahead with the infusion today so we are waiting on her arrival! It lasts 6 hours so we don’t have anything else on the agenda today. Not that we could do anything anyway because quarantine.

I'm at the office. It's kind of a shit show because we have court today and we have all new judges and new staff. They're trying to make court virtual and it's just not running smoothly yet. They're also changing court dates and times so we're scrambling to redo all of our notices.
Eventually it will all pan out.

Morning. SSDD I’m so tired. I don’t know what was/is up with baby girl, but she did/does not want to put down today. Can’t even remember the cause, but I cried mid morning and the kids were beyond sweet. I explained to them that everybody, even momma’s, sometimes cry. We listed reasons people cry and talked about that it’s okay to cry. When dd asked why I was crying now, I told them I was very tired and felt like I I didn’t have enough attention for each of them en wasn’t a good enough mom for them. They came over, gave me a big hug and told me that they didn’t agree. Teaching moment... for us all 🙂.
Additional rules are being announced tomorrow. They only thing they can do is a curfew or no house visits. Everything else is already closed or prohibited.

Morning.
Back to our normal work/school today. Yesterday I took the boys to Target before going to a new park. They spent most of the time looking at books and a few toys. M bought a book with his money and I got two magic treehouse books to start reading to them. They were on sale online, so they price-matched them.
I need to start a routine in the afternoons when I get home so I am productive instead of just cooking and vegging out on the couch. I am trying to find a system to stay on top of housework instead of letting it get overwhelming from time to time.

It took MH all day yesterday to get those shelves installed in my laundry room. When I get home tonight and I need to organize and get everything moved back in there because it's currently all in the kitchen. Hopefully I can get all that done and get dinner on the table by 6...

Cadence sold all but 2 of the 25 boxes of cookies from our initial order. I had no idea people wanted these cookies. She even has requests for when we get more.

I am trying to find a system to stay on top of housework instead of letting it get overwhelming from time to time. I need this. I've seen online 'schedules' for chores and probably need to institute one. I feel like I could spend all day every day cleaning and it's never enough (sidenote: i am DONE with the dark wood floors.) Or I just need to win the powerball and hire a daily maid

Something always comes up and then I miss a few days in a row and I can’t get back on track.

But I’m not a person who can do one thing each day like Monday- dust, Tuesday- vacuum etc, because then I feel like the whole house is never clean at once. But something would be better than nothing! I think it was guster who said she does a load of laundry every day no matter what. I’m trying to start this.

Hi hi. N is back to school today!! We dropped her off and then I took the boys to open gym. H brought his bike and scooter and burned off some energy. The only other kids there were a boy from his preschool and his little brother so they all had fun together.
Just put L down for his nap and trying to work up the motivation to workout. I’m freezing cold which is making it hard to want to change and go to the basement.

Hi! I finished reading everything from the weekend and beyond this morning, and I have tried to check in all day, but something else pulls my attention away. Nothing different over here. Josie and MH are back to school in person, and I signed Charlie up for an enrichment class at his preschool which I thought was this morning but was actually this afternoon so I took him and then had to take him back at noon. I’m leaving in 10 minutes to pick him up and then take Josie to dance.

I think it was guster who said she does a list of laundry every day no matter what. I’m trying to start this. That is true about the whole house never feeling clean with the 'chore a day' system. Maybe I need to dedicate one day/week to cleaning. Or clearly the answer is just a live-in housekeeper! Sorry, DH.

We have been purging the house and I feel like I have a routine of keeping things clean more than ever only because I’m working from home. Once I go back, I’ll be back to being a mess. Currently, I wake up 5:45, work out, shower, dry my hair, make breakfast, then drop C at the sitter by 7:30. Then I come home, wake up DS1, throw in a load of laundry, empty the dishwasher and garbage cans, and start work at 8. I have a 19 minute break between my second and third classes where I change the laundry and make my bed. Then at lunch, I walk the dog, make lunch, fold that first load of laundry. Then I finish my work day, pick up C, take him outside and clean up after the dog. Then it’s fold the second load of laundry, make dinner (we’ve been eating between 4 and 5 since we are all home), drop big kids at sports, homework with T, showers for the little boys, story time, bed. Then pick up big kids from wherever they are, then hot tub and drinks with DH. It’s repetitive but it’s keeping me sane and gives me something to look forward to at the beginning and end of my day.

jewels Last night when I saw the set up for the memorial/inauguration ceremony with the flags and lights, I thought of your husband and wondered if he had to oversee that set up at all. Hope he is keeping safe.

I was carrying some files downstairs at work and missed the last step. I hit the floor hard on both knees and twisted my ankle. It was a loud fall and yet no one came to check on me, see if I was ok, or even ask what the loud noise was. I'm fine, my knees are bruised and scraped up. I'm just a little sore.

wow kim22 I'm exhausted just reading all that! This actually feels pretty calm because Mh and I are both always here and poor T does nothing. I keep thinking about how last February I was away with DD for gymnastics one weekend, he was away with DS for hockey the next, then I went away for the weekend with friends and then he had a work trip and we didn’t see each other on weekends for a whole month. I was sad about it then but if I knew we would see each other all day every day for the next year, it would have been no big deal.

klong11 How rude no one came to check on you. I’m sorry. Hope you feel ok after a good night of rest. kim22 You are seriously killing the work/housework balance. Those drinks in the hot tub are very well deserved each day. A great way to end most days.

@kim, those end of the night drinks are very well deserved! I’ve been trying something that has been working pretty well. I’ve been doing a five minute clean of every room mostly on the days that Charlie has school. We are pretty on top of things normally (kitchens and bathrooms get done every day), But five minutes is enough time to vacuum the area rugs, run or swiffer over the wood/tile floors, and do a quick dust all surfaces. It takes me just slightly over an hour to get it all done. I throw on a podcast and listen to that, and it helps that with the numbers rising in our area that I don’t really go out to stores to run errands in that time anymore.

Monday is the kitchen/living room(since it’s an open space), Tuesday is the main bath, wed is the master bath, etc. Those are just examples and I’m not good at keeping up with it.
