I couldn't be less bothered by the Bernie memes. They're fun. You take a picture of me randomly throughout the day you'll think I'm a bitch. He is cantankerous but in an affectionate way. IDK. People are reaching.
On the other hand the Twitter rose brigade was posting about how the inauguration was "over-the-top pageantry" and really and truly fuck them.

I really like this sentiment, its worked with healthcare so far.
Pic says "Get rid of the filibuster and pass everything: healthcare, childcare, family leave, minimum wage, etc. Pass it all. Make Republicans have to try and take those things away from people instead of letting Republicans stop those things from ever happening. You'll win every time."
Yep yep yep. Plus let's see the Republicans try to pull back these programs through reconciliation. You can't motherfuckers!

Here I was feeling sad that Biden and Harris didn’t get the full party and hoping Harris gets it in 2025. 🤷🏻♀️

Ron Johnson's numbers look equally dire 😈 I could NOT be happier. Ron Johnson is a boil on the buttocks of Wisconsin.

"I can confirm for you here, the President hasn't spent one second thinking about the color scheme of Air Force One...certainly we're aware of the proposal" Y'all remember Trump's crazy ass color scheme plan for AF1? HAHAHAHA This is the SECOND question about this. Who the f keeps asking about it? Jen was laughing about it too, she was like, "The plane? Really?"

I feel like this has been the longest week. How has Joe only been President for a few days and so much is happening? Competency, preparation, expertise, experience. Three weeks ago everyone was criticizing him for hiring so many Obama alums.

Inevitably there will be bungles and screw ups. When you're dealing with stuff this big and this important, it happens (see healthcare.gov). But I'm glad they are off to a good start because lord, we need it.

He was in the hospital with covid, right? Yes. They haven't said cause yet, but he was hospitalized like a month ago and I don't think was ever discharged.

Also, I am going to recommend that we all buckle up because, now that they're out of office, all the really crazy shit will get leaked.
In other words, hang onto those newspaper subscriptions.

I know this goes around on occasion, but I’m lazy- any good ones you recommend? I have a subscription to our local paper, but I’d like to get one or two more national ones, if that makes sense

I think you can get a discount if you're an Amazon prime member. Because of geographic location, it always has reporting on what's happening with the fed government. I also subscribe to the Atlantic and check ProPublica and Vox regularly. I probably need a more conservative news source to get more a balanced view.

Your library likely has a paper and online subscription to all kinds of papers if you'd like to try a few out or even if you just want to add a few without added cost.

I don't subscribe to them but others not yet mentioned: the Atlanta JC and LA Times both do great reporting.
We subscribe to WaPo, NYT and The Atlantic

And for those who aren’t still entranced to snap out of it. A room full of jurors who are witnesses and many who don’t see the severity of what they witnessed isn’t an ideal combination either.

I just saw a car on base with the license plate LDN2DC so I’m pretty sure dc2london’s evil twin lives in Hampton Roads.

carmensandiego, thanks for mentioning the library. I think libraries are all too often overlooked as valuable resources (probably not here, but in general) and can really help the family budget as well. Reading the New York Times, etc., via my library isn't quite as much fun as having my own subscription, but it's certainly helping my wallet.
