What in the actual fuck is the argument for health coverage that doesn't provide maternity benefits?! I'm sure it saves money, but do the old, white, male beaurocrats on capitol hill think that they hatched out of eggs and then just walked off? I see every day in my job how not having health coverage limits basic, preventative services that would seemingly be cheaper in the long run. So it's definitely a good idea to pass a plan that causes millions of Americans to lose health coverage just so that you can say you fulfilled your biggest campaign promise. And I'm not saying the ACA is perfect, I'm just really frustrated with the whole issue.
End rant

"Because I'm a man and I don't benefit from maternity coverage so why should I have to pay for it?"
It's some serious bullshit. Oh, and also no birth control or abortions for you because it's against my religion. And also no welfare because you're just a bottom-feeder. It's the hypocrisy of the white male republicans.

My MOM complained that her insurance policy covers maternity care when she's had her tubes tied. She thinks things would be better (cost her less) if they were to pass this bill, but doesn't see how it would directly hurt me (wanting more kids) or anyone, like my sister, who wound up pregnant accidentally.
This whole thing drives me nuts because my parents just don't seem to care about how these changes will affect anyone else. My dad's on social security disability, but people are lazy/need to get jobs. My mom also doesn't work. Seriously, it drives me nuts.

I mean, the culture of where I live is pretty conservative/republican so I'm pretty used to the general line of thought, but I still think I'd just stop and stare with my jaw on the ground if I head a women who has had children complain about maternity care or someone whose income came solely from the government complain about welfare.

And you see why this drives me batty. We don't talk about economics, politics, religion, or education when my family gets together.
