Resist bot 50409 Text IMPEACH Resist bot will contact your elected officials on your behalf. In case anyone else may need. I wonder how many times I can send this. I think I did on Friday, maybe Thursday and have auto responses from Debbies Dingle & Stabenow, and I think one from Sen. Peters as well, but definitely just did it again and will do it again later and tomorrow.

Ugh I'm sorry ❤️ That would really frustrate me. He really is a wonderful man most of the time. And he's fairly liberal. He just lives in his own little bubble here in the Midwest. We're a small rural town, so most people don't see things in Washington as affecting us. I'm slowly trying to get him more connected. H and I have this tussle sometimes. He’s able to zone in and focus a lot more than I am. He sets aside time to watch the news and catch up and then goes about his business. While I am always multitasking in current events and my own life. He used to tease me about distracting myself and it hurt my feelings. I think he’s starting to get that this is real shit and not just me living in self imposed outrage land. He will never digest as much news as me but he is trying to not bug me as much about listening to the news while I work and what not. Anyways, I relate and it is hard.

I didn't see who objected. Someone from WV. Adjourned until 9 a.m. tomorrow ETA it was Mooney ugh. I didn't know much about him so I googled. This was on his website: "Alex’s mother, Lala (Suarez) Mooney, was born and raised in Fidel Castro’s Cuba, where she was thrown into jail for seven weeks for opposing Castro’s communist regime. When she was 20, Lala escaped Cuba and fled to America to restart her life. Alex’s father, Vincent, was sent to Vietnam when Lala was expecting their first child. He served as an Engineering Captain and was awarded the Bronze Star. Listening to his parents’ inspiring stories, Alex knew from a young age that he wanted to spend his life fighting for the American ideals set forth by our Founding Fathers." I really want to know what his parents think of his nonsense. They may be very conservative. I have known people who fled Castro-era Cuba and they lean very conservative. They also seemed truly afraid of socialism/communism in the US and it seemed easy for some politicians to play on those fears.

Welcome ozziebear, and thank you for bringing your level of expertise! Thank you! “Expertise” may be an exaggeration haha, but I’ll pass along what I know at least. We moved away from the DC area (NOVA) this year. I’ve missed it since we left, and especially have missed it in a bizarre way this week. Just wish I could hug the city and fuel the energy to do what needs to be done to drain the Trump swamp in the coming weeks. Well my "expertise" is in dropping bombs of the "F" variety, so it's all welcome here. 😉

I think my question got lost...
When he's impeached/convicted (assuming the conviction comes after his term is actually up in 9 days), will that void out his pardons? I know the list floating around had Guiliana, Ivanka, Kushner, etc. on it, so I'm just curious.

Ahh ok. The headlines were throwing me off. I didn’t realize they also filed for the impeachment. If it was televised, then I missed it. If it was just pushing paperwork, then I guess there was nothing to miss. They have to give 48 hours before a floor vote. So it was more "introduced" in that they gave it to other members to read, and they will discuss/vote on Wednesday.

This is exactly what my sister has said and specifically about those Cubans in Florida.

our legislature opens today with a state of the state address. one of my friends posted that 'the apple dumpling gang is rumored to be at the capitol today, so maybe avoid downtown, esp since there will be more guns than masks'

This is expected. We knew they were even more emboldened after Wednesday. Hopefully they take this threat a little more seriously.

Please stay safe, ladies. And if anyone needs support, reach out - either here or via DM. Vent, cry, whatever you need. This is scary and horrifying but we will get through this moment together.

Forgive me if I mixed this, but I believe it has to do with Federal vs State crimes/charges. So pardons are for federal offenses. On one hand, yes he can pardon himself, but in doing so, admits that he committed an offense for which he needs pardon. But it DOES NOT pardon against state offenses, hence why New York is eyeing him like a lovely prime rib steak.

Is the current feeling that state capitals are most at risk for violence? What about major cities that are not capitals?
...asking for a friend

Is the current feeling that state capitals are most at risk for violence? What about major cities that are not capitals? ...asking for a friend I’m on the other side of the state in the other big city... our public safety department released a statement saying it’s aware of rumors and not giving out specifics but is in touch with the fbi & doing whatever they can to ensure public safety.

Okay. I’ll have to look into what our city is saying. Sorry about that playoff loss!

It still made me feel better. I'm a broken record about this but it's just as important to tell them when you agree with them as when you disagree. They keep track of how many contacts they get supporting or opposing each vote. And you KNOW the anti-impeachment crowd are calling.
