To be fair, I know Gabe is trying to say that having the Senate R would be a checks and balances instead of all 3 being D lead, but I’m really pissed about the use of the word “divided”. Read the room with how toxic the environment between the two parties is! We need a government that is functional, not divided. If your wet dreams all focus around a federal government that can't "tread on you," aka they can't get anything meaningful done, division is great. But also, cue the ceaseless bitching about the federal govt being disorganized and disjointed and unable to do anything. Wonder why.

Mayor Bowser is basically begging people to stay home but I have a feeling it could get ugly. I need this lefty white boys to just not engage bc it only makes things worse. agree on that! That's where I'm conflicted, I want them ignored, but don't want them to pull some bullshit. It would be great if there were only 10 and the streets are empty outside of them so they really show their asses. I'm of the mind that de-platforming works and giving them rope to do what they will has resulted in their arrests. In Oregon, the PB ended up turning on law enforcement when counter protesters didn't show up in numbers but riot cops still wanted to riot cop. There is a leftist school of thought that without counter-protesters, regular marginalized or homeless folks out on the street could be the subject of that pent up aggression from the violent right but I don't know that that has really played out everywhere. It has in some places, but certainly not everywhere. And lest we forget that "stop the steal" rally last month or so had very low turnout for a rally. like a few thousand, not the tens or hundreds of thousands that were initially anticipated. This could very well be a last gasp of a failing coup.

I knew when this asshat wouldn't stop telling people to vote yesterday, it was simply to encourage the GOP. He might be on the right side of knowing that the machines weren't fucked with and the votes were accurate, but he's still a jackass Republican with Republican values.

Who is ready to get kornack-ered tonight? Getting fucked up with math is my favorite Tuesday night activity. I think I need to watch CNN and John King because Kornacki got me too anxious on Election Day/Week

Some GA Democrats are calling for an end to runoffs bc they're an instrument of voter suppression. Also, it has to be expensive to run extra elections! It's tough because without the runoff we'd def have Loeffler and Perdue but like...I absolutely get the suppression fuckery part. Dems do not come out as strongly (historically) in GA runoffs. Wasn't Warnock ahead of Loeffler in the general, just not by enough?

Late to this game but: In general I think corporations get too much leeway when it comes to filing lawsuits, but I CANNOT WAIT for Dominion to fuck some folks up.

dc2london's boo statement on tomorrow. Its (of course) REALLY good I wanted to take a moment to explain what's going to happen tomorrow, January 6th, in Congress: Since the 2016 election, Donald Trump has careened from crisis to crisis, undermining our democracy at every stage. In doing so, he’s been enabled by Republicans in Congress, and this week, we’ve truly reached a new and dangerous low. With Trump still denying the results of the election, his loyalists in Congress are now doing his bidding in a doomed attempt to ignore the people’s will and overturn the 2020 presidential election results. They won’t succeed — we won’t let them — but you deserve to know what’s about to happen and just how dangerous this is. For months, Trump has pushed conspiracy theories and made desperate last-minute attempts to hold onto power despite losing both the popular vote and Electoral College in November’s election by a landslide. His legal team and supporters have lost at least 60 lawsuits in the courts. His own Department of Justice found no evidence of voter fraud. But nonetheless, on Sunday, we heard graphic evidence of the president pressuring Georgia’s Republican Secretary of State to “find” him the votes he needed to overturn the results. Tomorrow, Congress will undertake our constitutional task to certify the Electoral College results — literally counting the votes that have already been certified by 50 states. This is normally a ceremonial task, since Congress doesn’t elect the president, the voters do, but not this year. A dozen Republican Senators — including Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley — and over one hundred Members of Congress have pledged to reject those results in a last-ditch effort to throw out Americans’ votes and steal the election for Donald Trump. It goes against the oath they swore. It goes against the very notion of free and fair elections. It goes against our Constitution. It goes against our democracy. All of that is abhorrent and anti-democratic. It’s also deeply hypocritical. At this time last year, these same Republicans refused to hold Trump accountable during the impeachment for abusing his power, claiming on principle that ‘the voters should decide.’ Well, the voters decided — and Joe Biden won — but since it wasn’t in the GOP’s favor, Republicans no longer want the voters to decide either. So much for principle. Never mind that the same election these Republicans falsely claim was rigged, was the very election in which they took office. Apparently, that part of the election was just fine. You may find yourself asking, why? Why are they willing to risk their reputation, their duty, their country to do this? I’ll tell you: a mixture of personal cowardice and political ambition to placate and satiate Trump’s far-right base which has been fed a steady diet of nothing but conspiracy theories. When you excuse every illegal, unconstitutional and corrupt act by a man patently unfit for office, it leads you to the wildly anti-democratic moment we will witness on the Floor of the U.S. House of Representatives tomorrow. It takes your breath away. I know they won’t succeed with their last authoritarian gasp tomorrow. We won’t let them. But we have to ask ourselves: what about four years from now? And after that? This is not okay, and we cannot tolerate it. It’s become clear that the fight to defend our democracy did not end on November 3rd. Far from it. And we'll defend our democracy tomorrow. — Adam

A girl on my BMB still has an Atlanta residence, but they are currently living in Richmond. Their mail-in ballots didn't arrive till last Friday. So her H, flew them back down to turn them in in-person. The commitment! ♥ A: This is awesome! B: Richmond? As in my RVA or another Richmond? Yes, VA (our BMB created its own board whenever the exoduses happened, so she never came over here)

Maybe gabe is trying to get the death threats portion of trump supporters to stop. I’m not giving him credit at all. But I can see him going like what if I say this so that these people will back off and let me do my job. I don’t know. I feel like all of this is playing your political game - which really sucks.

There isn’t anything Pence can do tomorrow to change the outcome, right? I know those senators & reps are just putting on a show, but Pence can’t do anything right?? I keep seeing rumblings on Twitter that make me nervous.

Yep. In GA if no one gets 50% or more of the vote, it goes to a runoff. Some GA Democrats are calling for an end to runoffs bc they're an instrument of voter suppression. Also, it has to be expensive to run extra elections! Isn't it really just the prolonged, more expensive way to do ranked choice voting? Like let's just do it once and be done.
