A girl on my BMB still has an Atlanta residence, but they are currently living in Richmond. Their mail-in ballots didn't arrive till last Friday. So her H, flew them back down to turn them in in-person. The commitment! ♥

I don't doubt it. I'm trying to distract myself from the anxiety, but it's not working.

Stupid question but why does Ga get these run off elections but like in the case of NY 22 congressional district we just go about with court battles and no rep until the courts decide a winner?

I'm unsure of each states election rules but I think its because of how GA's laws are written, no candidate got a majority of the vote, so there has to be a runoff.
Here in some of Idahos local districts, decisions are literally decided by a coin flip if there is no clear majority and I know somewhere else they drew a name out of a hat.
so its state dependent.

I really hope they bring back our boo Bill (the one who got flustered doing math on live TV). He's adorable. I think iruntodrink was the other founding member of his fan club.

I'm pretty sure there was one in VA recently where they literally picked a name out of hat or something equally stupid. dc2london, do you remember the details of that?

I never play here, but I'm popping in to ask what is thought of th Proud Boys crap and if it's going to amount to anything. I have people I know who are getting involved and I'm pretty worried. Getting involved on what side? I agree with origami, but am conflicted on how much mind they should be paid.

DeSantis gave a CNN reporter a hell of a hard time this morning when she tried to ask him a question about issues with vaccination distribution. I mean he was a huge dick and it was completely unnecessary.
Brianna Keilar just called him an ass on air and I am here for it.

Yep. In GA if no one gets 50% or more of the vote, it goes to a runoff.

That's where I'm conflicted, I want them ignored, but don't want them to pull some bullshit. It would be great if there were only 10 and the streets are empty outside of them so they really show their asses.

Yep. In GA if no one gets 50% or more of the vote, it goes to a runoff. Some GA Democrats are calling for an end to runoffs bc they're an instrument of voter suppression. Also, it has to be expensive to run extra elections!

I'm concerned both from the doing-something-stupid (which this person already is), standpoint, and also from the getting-in-a-firefight concern.

Also, it has to be expensive to run extra elections! It's tough because without the runoff we'd def have Loeffler and Perdue but like...I absolutely get the suppression fuckery part. Dems do not come out as strongly (historically) in GA runoffs.

I think doing stupid shit and getting into fistfights is more likely than bullets. Teargas and rubber bullets maybe if things get out of hand. This is just based on what I’ve observed over the summer. I think most folks will stay home and let them show their dumb asses rather than confront them in DC.

To be fair, I know Gabe is trying to say that having the Senate R would be a checks and balances instead of all 3 being D lead, but I’m really pissed about the use of the word “divided”. Read the room with how toxic the environment between the two parties is! We need a government that is functional, not divided.
