This was a good read. Written by former ID Gov Cecil Andrus CoS (i might be trying to prove not all of us are crazy here a bit too)

Look like PA's Lt Gov John Fetterman is running for Senate I just came here to post this! I couldn't think of a better replacement for Toomey. Even though I'm moving out of PA I'm going to work my butt off from afar to help Fetterman get elected. This has pumped me up today.

So can we discuss this? I know it's kind of Covid related, but it's more wide reaching, so I didn't want to put it in that thread. I know we've discussed it before, but the lasting effect on women in the workforce is going to be astronomical.

Lost wages, lost health benefits, lost career momentum, lost time, lost retirement savings.

This is devastating, more so for it's lack of surprise.

Well I am making arrangements to shift from part-time to on-call starting next week because I can’t care for my son and do my job effectively, so this is a timely discussion.

My company leadership and supervisor are really wonderful and I do plan on this being temporary. We’ll see how it goes I guess.

Lost career momentum, wages, and benefits are all at play for me, but I’m lucky in that I think I’ll be able to bounce back quickly once circumstances change.

Yeah, throughout this pandemic I have had to pick up 90% of the extra childcare work for our kids even though I both work more hours and earn more than DH. It's not his fault- my employer is super flexible and understanding and his is not, but still. I reduced my hours in October because it was clear this 2nd wave was coming and I just couldn't keep up anymore. I'm bitter about it. Not at DH, just at the world in general.

I really don’t want to fly on that plane. I don’t know what to do once travel is allowed again but I think I’m going to be looking at plane types when I book flights.

I mean, they just started flying them again what, like a week or two ago? And already a crash? It's bonkers, those planes can't be safe.
