DD was negative again yesterday. I’m torn because of course I would rather my kids not get sick, but it would be nice to at least get it all done at once. School is following cdc that her 14 isolation will start after our 10 days since we can’t isolate from her. 24 days y’all! Plus I think I would have felt half way safe enough to travel home to Iowa for the first time in almost a year and a half in the next month or so while we will had likely immunity. Maybe, I don’t know. Anyway I’ve got an antibody test also scheduled for Tuesday to see if maybe she had it first with no symptoms and that is why she isn’t positive. Or maybe she has superwoman immune system. 🤷🏼♀️ I’m in this same boat. DS and I are positive. DD and H are negative (but on rapid tests, they’re getting PCR tests Wednesday). I definitely would rather everyone stay healthy but there are certainly silver linings if they do end up having it. Also my DD is the most likely exposure point bc she’s in daycare so I have my money on her being patient zero in our family and that she passed it on then cleared it before we had her tested. DS’s positive was after mine so based on current status it will be 26 days in total 🤦🏻♀️ 3 down... Sending you hugs and as much rest as you can get.

What are your thoughts on dental visits? Ours are coming due. Have or would you go for a regular cleaning? Last time we were in, back around May or June, their protocols were not much different besides waiting in the car until appointment time/being called in. I’m not sure how I feel either way. I want to be safe and also don’t want to neglect dental health.

Our dentist had several precautions in place and I felt comfortable. They cleaned between time slots. So everyone was cleared, then cleaning the rooms and then next set of people. It was nice because the 4 boys went at the same time and filled all the chairs. I went before and H went after. I was glad to have it done and be over with. Some precautions, wait in car, masks until in the room. Each room had purifier (no windows so decent alternative) and they had clear curtains between the rooms. The hygienist was wearing double masks and changed the outer between patients, same with the dentist. Also new gloves (but that is non-COVID too). Dentist offices have always seemed very clean to me anyway - or at least the ones I’ve gone to - so maybe I’m biased.

I feel really good about my dentist’s precautions, including only scheduling one or two people at a time (it’s a small practice).

Our place is only bringing in one client/family at a time. They make you rinse with a special mouth rinse and the dentist and hygienist were very geared up. They keep your mouth very dry during the cleaning (less spray that way I assume). I honestly felt like the bigger risk was for the dentist. Obviously YMMV. I’ve also had to keep my eye specialist appointments. Talking about getting close to another person’s face 😬

Dental office has installed special venting, has put up plastic over all doorways to each exam space so they are more isolated, and only has a small number of patients at any time. They even separated my family (my husband and I take our two young kids at the same time) in order to keep with social distancing for their staff. I think dentists know they're in a high risk situation and are on top of safety protocols.

This is a case of people have strengths, let them do their thing. Ask for help and don’t pretend you know what you are doing. Glad they recognized and were able to reach out and not be too prideful. Everyone together. www.cnn.com/2021/01/31/us/chick-fil-a-drive-thru-covid-vaccine-trnd/index.htmlAlso hi from a “we are still doing phone calls to set up appointments” and you can sign up to get a text or email to let you know when to call. We have no functioning website months after knowing this is needed.

Well, I'm an idiot. Just got asked to substitute teach again for the local school. So I think I may qualify as 1B. I have not subbed since February. I don't have or get pay stubs. I do have a w2. I wonder if that's good enough? I also have a copy of my IL sub license I think your license might do the trick. It probably varies by location but I think you just need the right ID to show you’re in the correct tier. My friend who works for the sheriff Dept just got her shot at Safeway and showed her ID and badge, that was it, nothing official from employer or anything.

Think about it from their viewpoint: the patient is going to be the only person in there without a mask on. So they are likely to have very stringent protections in place for themselves, which also protect you.

I don't have the best teeth. Since last March, I've seen the dentist for two cleanings, plus one two-visit crown procedure. And I'm due again a week from Friday and planning on going. I have T2 diabetes and my internist says I'm in the high risk group.
My dental group is super-vigilant about observing all the protocols. I checked with my internist, and he advised me going as well, to avoid more intensive (and maybe painful) work down the road LOL.
So far so good and I'm not really all that worried. To the best of my knowledge I have not contracted COVID, and assuming I'd know it since doctor said I'd probably have a severe case, based on current knowledge.

The kids have also been to their normal dental cleanings since the pandemic began.

This is great news! Mother to baby antibody transfer in cord blood: This is awesome! I can't tell if they included people who received the vaccine in this... probably too early for that to be true. Hopefully we get some of that data soon!

Hopefully we get some of that data soon! Anecdote but I think all the babies in our NICU whose moms had CV during pregnancy have tested positive for antibodies. Or at least all the ones we’ve tested for antibodies on have yielded positive.
