Got home and did my first workout of 2021. Ran 8 miles, in shorts, in January. This is unheard of!!
I made a great Thai chopped salad with yummy peanut sauce and air fried some tempeh. Best dinner in a bit.

I was planning a rest day but decided to hop on the treadmill before dinner to try running off some anxious energy. I just ran a steady few miles to music instead of doing a Peloton class. It felt good and put me in a better mood after.

I signed up for Madeline Moves’s Tighter Together challenge that starts tomorrow, thanks to SweetPotato’s encouragement. It’s been 11 months since I’ve done any regular strength training, which is wild and the longest time off since pregnancy. And my body shows it. I’m nervous, but my day’s food is planned in MFP and I will do my best at the Day 1 workout tomorrow over lunch time.

I did the 30 minute Hamilton ride and I really enjoyed it. I wanted a bit of a light day so I lightly followed the cues, but didn’t push it too much.

Hi all. I'm a pretty infrequent poster but I'd like to go here now if that's OK ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I'm the heaviest I've ever been, except for when I was pregnant. Mostly related to eating whatever the F I wanted since March (though to be honest I'd been losing control over my eating for awhile). I do OK during the week and cook all our meals but then the weekend is full of takeout and drinks and/or sweets and it's just way too much. I also looove cocktails and have fun making them and trying new recipes, which aren't great for your health either lol. My goals- - Get my eating under control (I joined WW). I've had some success counting calories before but I wanted a little more structure/accountability. I have another friend doing WW so we'll check in with each other. - Exercise 5 days a week. I do OK with this most of the year but really haven't done anything besides walks since December 18. I downloaded a calendar of Peloton strength workouts from a FB group and I'm going to try to do those daily - ranging between 30-40 minutes, and also get in my 10K steps with a couple walks per day. I will go for runs as I feel like it here and there if its not too cold. H and I also just bought an Echelon bike (Peloton is not in the budget right now!) so I'm hoping to start incorporating spinning as well. - Limit alcohol (ugh). I'm not allowing myself any mixed drinks in January because I've just been out of control with that and they have so much sugar/calories. I'm going to limit drinking to only Fri/Sat and stick with light beer, wine, or bourbon (in keeping with my WW points). I think that's it for now. Tomorrow I start.

Got my first run of the year done, 4.5 miles. I ran less than 30 miles in December so I felt really sluggish today. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. I need a good restart this month. I don’t like the way I feel right now.

I got 20/35 min Into my day 2 Yoga with Adriene before the 3 yo woke up... then the 1 yo work up... so I called it good enough

Today was my rest day, but I spent a decent amount of time working on my muscle spasms. I meditated today and yesterday.
Self care yesterday and today was taking a nap.

TMI but I started spotting mid cycle which then turned into a full blown period 2.5 weeks after my last one. Yay irregular bleeding. 😣 So all I could do was a 15 min scenic ride at my own slow pace. I was cramping so bad. Then I did a 10 min arms class and a quick stretch to complete my rings for the day. Tomorrow will be a better day.

Wow, top 5% is crazy! FWIW, I hide the leaderboard on every single ride or run I do. I find it makes me anxious and working out is supposed to be about releasing anxiety, not creating it! Have you tried any of the Power Zone rides? DH swears by them because you’re only competing against yourself and seeing the progress. I always hide the leaderboard unless other HIHers are riding with me or they have already taken the ride before. Then I just filter to you all. I don’t care too much about random people to compete against. It distracts me from my focus. I do the same! I find it makes me push harder trying to keep up with people that I actually “know”.

Ran 2.25 miles while I got my oil changed today. The rest of the day I was tethered to my laptop trying to coordinate and create online instruction last minute because my district will be remote this week, including my students this time! It is a ton of work of adapting all of the planning I already did, but I’m glad not to be in close proximity to kids who can’t mask or social distance right after the holidays, especially with how high cases have been here.
Tracking and sticking to my macros begins again tomorrow and I already have everything logged. I meal planned and shopped this morning too, so it should be a successful week!

My fitness self is happy I came in here, my no-spend January self is not. I’m now doing the Madeline Moves challenge. I just finished the 6 week bbm extreme and the 14 day fat blaster and need something new.
I’m calling it a stars alignment situation, because what are the odds that I would look up the Madeline Moves challenge and it starts tomorrow... and the last day to sign up is tomorrow. I like that it’s a short commitment too. I downloaded the app and the program has a different feel from bbm. Excited to get going tomorrow as this was unexpected.
Last month I did the free trial of peloton app, did not pay to keep it, but I went into it knowing that it wasn’t in the budget rn. But the free trial elevated my cycling at home and improved my form. I was not expecting that take away at all, just planned to get a few free workouts in and see what all the peloton fuss was about.

Today I took a walk outside then did Matty’s 20 min body weight strength. I have never really done any strength work but I want to get stronger and I liked that I found a beginner class that could explain everything for a novice. I also learned that I cannot do a plank so I’m filing that away as a potential future goal but I don’t see that happening this month. That class checks off one of my classes for my “try 3 new categories of classes” goal this month. Two more to go!

I think you’ll like it once you dig in and get the hang of it. I did her summer challenge also and liked it a lot. The fb group can be a bit much sometimes, but is also helpful and encouraging. Mondays, oh how i need to learn to love them. Funny story though, I slept until 5:30 than showered and started getting ready. At 6 am I made DD, 7, get up to take a shower. DS, 5, get up for breakfast, because we have to get ready for school as well. Right? WRONG. H and I had no clue school doesn't resume until TOMORROW. H figured it out when the bus didn't show up and no other kids were at the bus stop. I can't stop laughing. Anyways...I need to plan out my workouts for the week.
Today will be Stretch, 5 min full body with Emma L. Tread Bootcamp, 45 min EDM with Selena Core, 10 min Elvis remix with Emma L.
Food: B: 2 eggs scrambled, with morning star chicken patty in tortilla S: cottage cheese with strawberries L: mexican chicken with black beans and side salad and side of raw carrots and broccoli. S: hard boiled egg D: teriyaki chicken with brussel sprouts (did not make it last night)

I am dead. I have died. Day one of Tighter Together in the books (upper body + EMOM challenge).
The EMOM at the end was brutal! Seriously brutal. But I’m proud of myself for actually doing burpees and not modifying. A year ago there’s no way I would have done them.
I’ll be taking the dogs for a lunchtime walk to get in my LISS cardio and will also do a crush your core workout at some point today.

I was up until midnight working, and then DD was anxious about going back to school today so she was up at 3:30 and I snuggled with her to get her back to sleep. Needless to say, I did not get up early this morning to work out. But I will get something in later. And it will definitely include some stretching, because that 10 minute quads and glutes workout left me sore!

This morning I meditated, did physical therapy, and now I’m using my TENS unit, a heating pad, and a couple of ice packs.
I’m not sure what self care will be yet.
