ย I have a pretty good paying job, and Ive worked straight through and have health insurance. But I have childcare expenses, and expenses related to my kids education that have TAPPED ME OUT. Im in better shape than many, and yet, Ive driven thru the food pantry line a couple of times to keep decent food on the table. True story. I don't have the option of changing shifts- so I have nightcare which is astronomical when I can get it- and daycare, since the hooligan needs some supervision- if not a semi functional parent. We get by, straining and pinching everywhere and everything we can. Weโve always been on the bubble of getting help and needing it, but now that so many more are in our position, we actually have access. Some places we had been using, like the local bread store that sold loaves and other things for a tiny fraction of the store cost, closed temporarily and now permanently, due to COVID. The food lines here are long and Iโm thankful for the DVD player in the van. For a long time it seemed something to hide from HIH. I mean, I revel in celebrity excess, handbags thread etc but this year has come near to wiping me out. Iโve decided to be clear on that account. Iโm a normal person whose barely making it right now- HIH is definitely escapism to a degree. But who is at the food bank? Not necessarily who you think

The thing that was frustrating for me, was not always having access to the resources. Not sure if that makes sense, but the information just wasnโt readily available. That has seemingly changed. Being a part of a local but nothing group has helped so much as well. Some neighbors would go and then share the excess, which was incredibly helpful. Now that we have been, I also understand it. The generosity is a bit overwhelming - we ended up with a case each of bananas, bread, lentils and 8 cartons of eggs. I passed along what we couldnโt possibly eat. Now Iโm trying to figure out when to go again, in no way do we need full cases, nor do we have space. It is just overall, overwhelming.

Thank you all for listening and hearing. You all are so generous in every way, that is appreciated in ways and by those you may not even realize. enchanted I feel a bit like rain myself, sometimes a drought, sometimes a drizzle, sometimes a light shower and sometimes a downpour that can flood the basement.

Do you think he's going to lose his mind now? I really just want it to be a month from today, and for him to disappear.

If 2020 has taught me anything itโs that self care is so important. However that looks to each of us individually. Be it posting 356444 in twenty minutes or a drive by. Holding your truth to yourself or sharing it. No one should ever apologize for the time spent here.
This is an incredible group and I am so very lucky to know you. Hereโs to things looking up โค๏ธ๐ฅ

Happy New Year to all the wonderful people on this board. This was the year I tentatively ventured out of lurking due and you were all so welcoming. I've learned so much. I hope 2021 is all that you need it to be.

Now Iโm trying to figure out when to go again, in no way do we need full cases, nor do we have space. It is just overall, overwhelming. You might have missed it cause I talked about it and complained on the general board I've been going to the market on the move here to get food boxes. Which is great and helpful. It's $10 donation and you get usually the us food box--with carrots, potatoes, onions, apples, small yogurts, usually a gallon of milk, a big dairy thing like cottage cheese and then you might get a big bag of chicken chili, taco meat or hot dogs. And then I can get all kinds of surplus produce they get low cost and grocery and restaurant leftovers. I'll get like mcD mcgriddlers or walmart fried chicken etc. It's a lot of stuff for $10 and stretches the grocery budget. BUT when you get a bushel of zuchini, a whole giant box of plantains and bananas, a box of 5lb bags of shredded carrots, lettuce or cabbage.... it becomes WORK to figure out how to cook it, freeze it, or rehome it to neighbors. Like I was the banana fairy for days putting 2 or more bundles of bananas at all the neighbor's front doors. they usually let people walk thru and pick out how much/how many food items then want and usually have like 20 sites, but with covid then prepackage boxes or just pass out full boxes without opening and dividing them up, and with only 2 sites in the state able to store all the stuff they get, they were just passing out tons and tons of boxes. but it becomes not as helpful.

That sounds very helpful. I did spend the rest of that day cutting and prepping veggies, then passing along extras and things I knew we couldnโt or wouldnโt use. Over the summer, the schools were giving produce boxes with the lunches and it was amazing, though we had apples and oranges coming out of our ears. The Buy Nothing group has been a light spot in my year, including books for the boys and a hand-me-down Christmas present that has been a giant hit. It also gets me out of the house and able to drive around my & the close to me neighborhoods with a destination and not mindless turning.

Isnโt it illegal on Twitter to threaten the life of a sitting US Vice President and not get banned? Or does Twitter just really not care anymore?

It is an option for why you are reporting a tweet. I only saw the one I posted because his name was trending and this one. My gosh.

You hate to see it...
