Halle-freaking-lujah, 2020 is almost over.
Although I did see a meme reminding us that we are now going into a year pronounced "2020 won" 😬

Is it flammable that at this point, I don’t actually care who he chooses? I trust him to choose good people and anyone on his list will be so much better than who’s there now. I just need all the Trump cronies OUT.

This seems like a "well, obviously" but it's still a relief to hear

I just need all the Trump cronies OUT. Nope. I’m here. I mean I am in CT and people are all “Hrm not sure about this education secretary pick,” blah blah and all I can think of is hello. Betsy. We’re good. He seems like a nice fella. Next!

H got me this for christmas and I didn’t even ask for it. He’s a treasure. I’m on page 8. The preface alone is stunning. I’ve already teared up a bunch. I’m sure this has been covered here, but I highly recommend. Reading it and knowing that when he wrote it and the preface that he didn’t know Biden was going to win...just every second knowing that his legacy is returning in some form as I read it fills me with so much hope.

This was one of two things I asked for I’m on ch 5. It’s really really good.

One of our attending is retiring tomorrow and I asked what his plans were and he said he just bought Obama’s book and he can’t wait to read it and I was like so it slowly so maybe when you finish it you can start traveling. We laughed and i got really jealous of him having time to read a book.

Biden is addressing Nashville And the transition, I’m totally on board with pick whom ever as long as they ain’t related to you. He’s got a huge job to rebuild agencies Finally he stated what we all knew- Trump f*cked up every inch of the gov’t and put every roadblock in place to prevent Biden’s presidency from moving forward. I have so much anger, not due in small part to my Trump worshiping’s Governor’s lack of covid response which brought SC to a 28.5% positive rate today.

The library just delivered the audiobook of Obama’s book. I just need to find time to sit and listen to it. Best part is that it is narrated by the author himself.

The girls got Kamala and Maya's Big Idea for Christmas and we finally read it last night and it is such a sweet story. Both girls loved it and were super into the story. Dd1 already asked to read it again today.

I just watched a fascinating and so sad documentary on theo von boven, the UN and human rights committee and disappearances in Argentina, uruguay, paraguay and other countries. And fuck, i know about the disappearances vaguely. The 70s-80s was such a time of authoritarian violence (mostly supported by the us) in south america, hut seeing the extent of it and how few people cared. Phew. Gonna watch some bake off now to mellow out.

I'm about halfway through Obama's book. It's very detailed and I enjoy reading about his perspective.

The library just delivered the audiobook of Obama’s book. I just need to find time to sit and listen to it. Best part is that it is narrated by the author himself. I loved listening to Becoming since Michelle narrated. My H surprised me with Obama’s new book for Christmas and he knew I’d probably listen so I asked why he got a hard copy and he said he knew I wanted a bookshelf and it seemed like a good one to put on it.

Things will be interesting in the GOP Senate. Wow. Looks like it. I mean, they kind of have to pass it don’t they? It feels like political suicide to not? If they don’t do you all think it will be easier to flip the Georgia seats?

Yes! We have a bookshelf with maybe 5-10 books and this is one.

I was really unhappy with the Obama administration over some things like the drone strike program (and I'm not nuts--obviously I know he was 99% wonderful and OF COURSE a million times, to the twelfth power, better than He Who Shall Not Be Named) and reading direct words from Obama about the decision making that went into those incredibly tough calls don't erase my frustration but they ....humanize them?

If they don’t do you all think it will be easier to flip the Georgia seats? There will never be a floor vote. Rand Paul will object to Unanimous consent and Mitch will just ignore it.

Gonna watch some bake off now to mellow out. It’s so, so horrifying. I honestly can’t remember how it when I came across the knowledge of it but I did a decent dive into it and it was just mind blowing. It also made it really hard for me to accept this latest Pope, as he was heavily connected to Argentina and the disappearances, but his liberal views and proclamations have helped neutralize him a bit for me. Almost as if he’s trying to make up for his horrendous deeds by helping push Catholicism into the 21st century and be more liberal and open and yadda yadda...
