I went to target to hit up clearance candy. Now I’m snuggling E while C and L play beyblades.

Good morning and a belated Merry Christmas to everyone! Anyone else feel hungover (and not from alcohol)? We had a good week and the kids had an awesome day yesterday, but I am beat...putting on Christmas solo has taken its toll I put them to bed as soon as we got back from my parents' last night--didn't even unload the gifts, etc.--and went straight to bed myself. We hit Dillards this morning for their after-Xmas sale to get some Christmas things I'd seen, and now we're home eating lunch. I need to muster some energy and get all the *stuff* organized. A couple of my aunts went a little crazy for the kids...

Fun story/has this happened to anyone else?:
This morning, 6 out of the 7 smoke detectors in our house started going off simultaneously. It freaked me out and the first thing that popped into my head was, the tree is on fire! But no...no smoke or anything in the house.
DH changed all the batteries right before he left so I knew it wasn't that. I tried resetting them, switched the breaker off, and removed the batteries...no luck. Finally had to disconnect them all at the ceiling to make them shut off, and I can STILL hear this little low whining sound. It's insane. And we have 12-14 ceilings in all the rooms where they are located, natch.
My dad is coming over after lunch to tinker with them. The house is 17 years old and I know smoke detectors 'expire' at 10--not sure if these have ever been changed out but they 'look' new-er. Google tells me this could be from dust, a bug, or any number of random thing; since they're all hard-wired and connected to one another, one going on the fritz will affect them all.

Currently stranded. My car door was left open last night so A jumped it this morning so we could go to target. We try to leave target and its dead again. My fil came and tested it and the battery is bad. He jumped us again and now we're at auto zone to get a battery and he and A will switch it out now so we can continue our errands. But hes been in there forever. I'm worried they don't have the battery 😐

flamingo all of then will have an expiry date printed right on them and they are relentless when they’re out of date. Since they’re hard wired in they simultaneously work together, so if one is expired they’ll all go off. If it’s dust then you should be able to vacuum or blow out where the hard wired connector is on the unit. If you have to change them wiring them in is super easy, I went with the Kidde fire/CO2 combined monitor. Can you tell I just went through this in May, when MH was on tour as well. Never fails. Good luck, I hope you find out what’s going on.

That's annoying flamingo. I hope you figure out the source of the problem soon. Oh no peachsmama. Not a good way to start the day. I hope they have the battery.

They got me anyway! 😂 Yes, I think I’m going to have all new ones installed just to be safe. Thanks for the rec! My dad looked at them but he’s 65 y.o, I don’t want him trying to finagle stuff on a tall ladder with our ceiling heights, esp since there’s so many.

Being mega lazy over here. I cleaned up quite a bit last night because I could not stand the state of the house. It's much better now but still needs a lot of organization. My mom went more insane than usual with her shopping.
Probably a low key day of movies and organizing here.

Happy Boxing day everyone.
Anyone looking for deals? I’m shopping for hand bags and a treadmill. I think we’ve decided on the Horizon T303 treadmill, the reviews are really great and I dont need anything with streamed classes, but of course it’s out of stock so we wait.
We were going to go on a hike in the river valley this afternoon but it’s so cloudy and gloomy we might just have a movie afternoon and watch Soul.
I know what I’m not doing, and that’s cooking! Leftovers for days over here.

Leftovers for days over here. Ha! Yesterday after cooking two sides to go with the stuff we picked up, I exclaimed that I am done cooking for the next two days. Feeding my crew and the ILs for three days felt like a part time job. I don’t care what we eat tonight, as long as it doesn’t involve me cooking.

Hi!
Work started a little eventful, but wasn’t bad when it was all done. Just the technology trying to drive me crazy. 🙄
Got home to the boys just waking at 10am. They were up late, so I wasn’t surprised. It’s way warmer than the last two days, so lots of outside time today. I need to do some light cleaning and laundry this weekend. Not much else on the agenda.

flamingo faulty fire alarms are the story of my life. You are much calmer than me since you did not call 911. The number 1 reason I may move would be my fire alarms. DD and I were waiting at the pet store before they opened this morning. After polling her gymnastic’s teammates, the mice are Saidie and Riley. I cannot tell them apart, they are both white with pink noses but she swears their ears are different. Apparently Riley ran on the wheel all day and lets DD hand feed her while Saidie likes to hang in the upstairs of the habitat and hide. They did sleep all snuggled together. I think we need to go buy them a little house tomorrow because all the ones at the stores seemed to be sleeping huddled up in the house.

flamingo We have had spiders set off our smoke detectors before. Ours our hardwired but only the one tripped. I heard of this happening before so I shook it hard and a small spider came out.

We had a good day here. C was able to use his electric scooter and then I played with all of his toys with him. Dh was a bump on a log again today. I’ve been letting it go for a while now because I know he’s stressed with work but C has said a few times that dad only sits on the couch and never plays with him. I’m not sure how to bring that up really. I’ll take suggestions!

Calling 911 did cross my mind, if only so they could bring an ax or something to slam into the alarms--awful noise! I'm sure if I had checked my blood pressure at that moment in time it would have been at "Go straight to ER".

wedding I usually tell Cadence to tell her dad straight up when she feels he hasn't been putting in effort with her. If I tell him he just thinks I'm nagging.

Morning! Yesterday I took the kids sledding at my parents house. It was good to see them. Then my sister and her family came to play in the snow at our house. We had a zoom present opening with my parents and sisters/BILs. My parents got us a bunch of really nice gifts!

My FIL doesn’t have any symptoms. So far my MIL has had nasal congestion, but that’s normal for her since she has terrible allergies.
