I woke up with a cold (runny/stuffy nose and sore throat, so I'm not getting tested) yesterday. Blah.

It's a new week, and less than a month until Inauguration Day!! So so so excited it’s less than a month away! Also very glad the Biden’s are getting their first vaccine today. My best friend (a nurse) is as well and I’m all weepy about it.

Seriously unimpressed with the covid relief payments of $600. I am very unimpressed with the entire deal really but I also knew I would be. The fact that it took thing long and so many concessions on the Democrats' part, is just completely outrageous. I think it is ridiculous that they are capping the relief payments based on tax return income instead of just sending it to every person either way. I mean, I'm fortunate in that my H and I surpass the income limits and we are fine. But what about people that surpassed the income limits last year and then this year lost everything? The only jobs lost weren't just in the lower income sector -- they need MORE of course, but some people lost everything that were making over 75k. Plus 75k as a household income isn't some amazing flush number. Anyway. I know I am preaching to the choir. I couldn't find anywhere if they extended student loan payment relief past Jan 31 either, so I assume no? I feel like that should be a relatively bipartisan issue so I don't get why they didn't do it. Are they just assuming that Biden will immediately extend the relief or whoever he puts in charge of education will?

willow I got notice from my lender that my loans were deferred to 1/31. I have mohela. Also is it 75,000 household cap or per person? I feel like that’s a lower threshold than what was in the spring.

This is good but woof at the complicated solution that won out. More red tape and cost in the system is what I see. I wish they would have just used the benchmark approach.

I’m excited about the unexpected hospital bills reform. We have an urgent care here that is in network for the facility but not one doctor is in network. When you call them they are like sorry don’t have any way to help you and oh yeah you have 90 days even on a payment plan to pay everything off before being sent to collections.
This is also the same urgent care where my H got swabbed for the flu and they charged $700. He called them out on it and they were like yeah we’re a private entity so we can charge what we want.

So it's 75k per house or per person? And is it AGI or taxable?

Yeah, I have a lot of misgivings about this independent arbiter approach. Who's going to select that person? Pay them? What if the parties can't come to an agreement? Also, why was ground ambulance travel left out?

I always hate myself during holiday weeks for not taking any extra days off. Me too. So this year I was like screw it, I'm taking 2 weeks. See ya in the new year, boss. (My boss is good to me, fortunately).

Yes DeVos did that a few weeks ago but I'm curious if this was going to extend it further or if Biden is going to do that. I have to hope it happens because this won't be magically better in 30 days.

Just pick Medicare rates + a percentage and let us automate it on the back end.

$600 after 9 months is embarrassing and we should be ashamed as a country. Unfortunately we seem as a nation to be immune to shame and being the laughing stock of the world. 🤦🏻♀️
