Only 7 days before Christmas, guise! And only 8 more days until my kid goes to Grandma's for a week.
This sounds great in theory, but I'm super bummed we won't be together for New Year's. Cadence and I always have so much fun on New year's. :/

Morning! I feel like I've been up for hours I've played a lot of Barbies but finally excused myself to shower. C is bummed she doesn't have school or ballet today; we may go over to my parents' for a bit just to visit and break up the day. Tonight we're going to a city just south of us to look at Christmas lights (the whole town is lit up and it's spectacular). I want to do some Christmas baking this weekend, probably need to figure out what I want to make and get a list going.

One of the bosses received a smoked turkey as a gift from a client. He's out of town and told me I could have it. We don't need a smoked turkey so I gifted it to someone on our neighborhood's Buy Nothing group. She had previously posted that they couldn't afford Christmas this year. So I emailed her asking her if she wanted it. She was so excited. Mh is not amused by my constant giving away of things, but seriously we don't need these things, why not give them to people who do? I gave away 2 stuffed bags the other night of all of Cadence's 7/8 clothes. That woman texted me after she picked them up saying she was crying, it was so much. Come on H, it makes you feel good to do nice things for people!

Morning!
I just got my vaccine and I’m waiting the mandatory 15min monitoring for allergic reactions. It wasn’t bad at all.
Plumber is coming today finally. Let’s hope this doesn’t cost me a lot. The kids clogged up their tub with I don’t know what and it’s not draining, so that will need to be fixed too. I’m not made of money kids!

People that have gotten it earlier in the week said they didn’t have any symptoms days after, so I’m hoping the same is true for me. May be different with the second dose.

Morning! I took the day off but don't have much to do, which honestly is amazing. I'm exhausted and need some downtime. I'm still hoping to get in for a cut and color but they closed early Wednesday and we're closed yesterday, so I don't have an appointment yet. Fingers crossed, roots are not the look.
I may stop by TJ Maxx later to pick up some clothes for the boys to put under the tree from us. Just not feeling very motivated, which is fine by me!

lahdeedah WOO HOO!!!! I cannot love that post enough. To go from a global pandemic to a vaccine in the same calendar year, is truly fucking amazing! The scientists and gang who worked tirelessly on these vaccines are just...wow.

It is much more rewarding giving to people than to a goodwill dropoff that I wonder if it will actually get to people.

That’s awesome klong11. Aside from making someone’s day, I love the “no waste” aspect of it too. Happy birthday @snoop!

Have I bitched here about the mail (or lack thereof)? It seems USPS has given up. For the entire month, I’ve only gotten 1-2 pieces of mail a day. And yesterday we got nothing! This is highly unusual during normal times but unheard of at Xmas. All my neighbors are complaining as well.
I know what’s going to happen, bc it happened during the height of the pandemic too. One random day, a month from now, I will get a giant pile, with postmarks back to November. Sucks more now bc I’ve got time sensitive items. 😠

Happy Birthday snoopmommymom! lahdeedah That's awesome you got your vaccine. I have a few other friends who have posted on FB that they got theirs as well, also in the medical field. I'm excited that their may be an end to this in sight! wineallthetime I'm in the same place as you with not knowing when I'll get it. I don't leave my house much, so I think I'm low risk for contracting, but it's just so hard. I still haven't gotten my flu shot, for that same reason. I don't go anywhere to be exposed to viruses at this point in life, although I know my H or Evie could bring both home. yummeecookee do you have a different mail person? For a few weeks, our mail was put in a neighbors mailbox, was super late, or not delivered at all. Our normal mail lady is finally back this week. Nothing much here. Today is Evie's last day of school for holiday break, she was excited for PJ day.

Morning ladies.
Three cheers for the scientists who worked tirelessly despite many asshats completely disrespecting them.
So happy it's Friday. I'm actually working a couple hours of OT tomorrow but it's from home so I don't mind. And I've worked OT off and on for years and this is the first time I'm actually getting paid for it. My boss has never done the leg work for us to get OT. Will be nice to have a little extra in the last paycheck of the year.

A kid thing that drives me crazy--when the little weirdos put their mouths around the entire opening of a water bottle. Uncultured swine.

mwhip, I wouldn't be as stressed about it but I work in a hospital... I have really bad medical anxiety and am always convinced I'll have some horrible reaction to things I haven't had before!

I think this is valid, its only just happened this week. Wait it out for 6 weeks maybe, then you'll see and know people that have had both shots and are in the immune category. Be interesting to see all the feedback as time goes on. after the year we have had 6 weeks is a drop in the bucket.

snoopmommymom Happy Birthday! lahdeedah yay for vaccination! I feel like I want to have it for several months before giving it to my kids so I’m going to get it ASAP. I’m probably in the last group though unless they bump teachers up. This morning we ran out of milk so DH ran to get some. He didn’t bring his phone so of course the fire alarms went off and wouldn’t stop. C was at the sitter already and DD was sleeping still. The other boys were up. My alarms are sensitive and go off often so I was screaming for the kids to get out for real. Poor DD had shorts and no shoes and there is a foot of snow outside. Luckily their costs and boots were right by the door drying from sledding last night so I was throwing coats and boots out the door at them. Two big fire trucks showed up. They went in with all their meters and stuff and found one alarm was malfunctioning (again). DH got home and ran out and bought all new ones (again). They are supposed to last 10 years. We did the house 6 years ago and this is the 3rd time we replaced them.

That’s awesome klong11! yummeecookee I’ve had USPS issues too. I’m trying not to be too annoyed since they are dealing with insane volume this year and with it being government I am sure they weren’t able to just go out and pluck up new employees. That said I have had a package come to a distribution center within 5 miles of my house and then go to CT. 🤨
