I finished. Im not totally annoyed anymore. Slightly disappointed still but whatever, didn’t hate it. Still not happy about the sister love triangle and enjoy the personalities of the sisters from the book a lot more. I did like how Anthony and Kate storyline ended though, the scene in the garden made me a bit teary eyed. The Featheringtons are definitely drama filled and very interesting. I’m wondering how the Eloise stuff will play out next season. I feel like Whistledown is being semi outed way too early but interested to see how that all plays out too. Basically, didn’t hate it, didn’t LOVE it, but also can’t wait for season 3. I understand why they did the love triangle, but having it drag as long as it did was just too much for me. I don’t know how to spoiler so I will just say Episode 6 “The Choice” felt unnecessary. Everything about Benedict was a highlight for me this season. He lightens up every scene he is in.

Yes it was definitely dragged out… maybe that’s what is bothering me about it more. I think I actually FF through that episode and some of the last one. Benedict is my favorite. The actor playing him is amazing, he and Eloise are the best.

I'm only up to episode 4... I'm feeling they needed the love triangle. With season 1, they had the relationship between the Duke and Daphne, and his deceit about having children. I feel like this lacks that 2nd obstacle probably without going further into the other books, so it needed to be dragged on.
I feel like the author (or writers) combined some Jane Austen, with the Taming of the Shrew.
I couldn't get through the first book, though I love historical romance like this.

I struggle with Anthony's relationship with his mother. He is one who saw and remembers her at her worst moment in life and I get that that also affected him negatively. I just don't like that his mother seems completely oblivious to how seeing her like that has affected him.
Is Philip the printer the Sir Philip in Eloise's book?
You Oughta Know by Alanis Morissette in instrumental was unexpected but lovely.

I finished yesterday. I overall enjoyed this season and liked the story line of Eloise and the printer guy. I’d love to see more of that in the future!
It may be an unpopular opinion but I’m not as invested in Benedict. I did like the humor he brought this season.
Damn, Colin and his burn of Penelope at the end.
The scene with Penelope/Eloise at the end was heartbreaking.
I enjoyed the Sharma sister. I hope they show up in future seasons. I did miss seeing Simon. It was just weird not seeing him at certain family gatherings, ie the wedding. I know Rene wasn’t coming back, but I feel like Simon could have been a bigger role. Helping Anthony thru things. They were friends once upon a time.

I finished last night. Such for not binging, lol. I enjoyed it but I did think they dragged on the love triangle too long. I feel like we didn't get much of Anthony and Kate together.
On a shallow note I'm so glad they changed Anthony's hair for thus season, I'm not sure I could have taken him seriously as the romantic lead with season one's hair 😂
I really enjoyed the storyline with Eloise and Theo, I hope we get more of that.
It was weird not having Simon there at all. I know the actor didn't plan to come back but it was so noticeable that he was missing in the scenes with the family.
I have such a hard time telling Anthony and Benedict appart.
I was annoyed with the Featherington storyline but liked how it ended.
I kind of want to read the book now. How weird would it be to skip the first book and just read this one?

I’m on episode 7. I keep coming back to the fact that I only ever see seven Bridgeston kids. Am I forgetting something? Seems to me that Francesca is missing and that the two younger are Hyacinthe and Gregory?

Where we are in the show, Francesca isn’t “out” quite yet. I think her first marriage occurs during the time jump in Colin’s book. Last season she was said to be studying pianoforte at her aunt’s house. This season she just wasn’t really around. I read somewhere online that the actress had a conflict for 1/2 the filming schedule. She should be around next season if they do Benedict’s story next! She has a lot of interaction with B’s love interest, Sophie.

nelzie I only read books 2, 3 & 4. Lost interest in any of the others and didn’t bother with the first. I know people are complaining about so little sex scenes, but there were way too many in season 1.

Jumping in since I was late to watching the first season originally.
I just finished episode 5 so after I binge the rest of it tonight I may have more to say.
I’m agreeing though that the triangle has gone on a bit too long. I’m finding Edwina fairly annoying too.
I’m so glad they changed up the scene when Kate was stung by the bee. The scene in the book was ridiculous, but I do kinda wish they had been discovered and put an end the the triangle nonsense there.
Did anyone else notice (I’m pretty sure) Lord Sheffield is Nigel from Buffy the Vampire Slayer?

They all do connect but it’s not heavy on plot where you’ll miss anything major if you don’t read one book.

I just finished E3 last night as I'm trying to pace myself.
This might just be my favorite episode of the series (thus far).
We finally got the backstory on Edmund’s death and that was gut-wrenching to see a teenaged Anthony literally watching his father die before his eyes, powerless to stop it and poor Violet, pregnant and trying to will her beloved back to life.
They really helped to color in the lines of why Anthony is the man he is today and why he is so set on marrying for duty, rather then have his heart broken or whose loss will cause the devastation his father’s did.
I loved that Daphne recognized immediately what her brother won’t allow himself to where Kate is concerned.
I have not read any of the books yet and will likely hold off til show’s end so I knew nothing of the Pall Mall game.
It brought out so many shades to the characters. Daphne being competitive even as she kept an observant eye on two couples, her brother a part of both of them and seeing what should be there, but wasn’t, with one of them, and what shouldn’t be there, but was, with the other.
A puddle of muck would seem the least likely of places to begin falling in love but there it was, just the same, even if neither of them know it yet.
Daphne’s words about how you know when you’ve found the one really got to Anthony who know he certainly does not burn for Edwina and likely never will.
I like to think her words rang in his ears when he put aside duty for once and did not propose to Edwina.
I felt for her, but would feel worse for her to be married to a man who doesn’t truly love her the way every woman deserves. Her tears and disappointment and feelings of failure gave more insight to her, showing how difficult it is to carry the weight of being the family’s security on her shoulders.
Pen getting a confidante in Genevieve was a nice twist. Now, can Gen put her in something beyond those hideous yellow and orange gowns? Please?
Benedict getting high was…something. 😆
I loved the scene with Anthony and Violet at Edmund’s grave and him chastising, gently, her checking out after his death for a long time, and she recognizing the scars that were inflicted on her eldest as a result and seeking to rectify his thinking that he shouldn’t marry for love.
Finally, the bee scene. Has there ever been a more perfect scene? Two people dropping their guards and showing their truest selves as Anthony surrendered his Lord of the Manor demeanor as Jonathan’s perfectly-acted panic took over. Simone was perfect as well as she played the beats of annoyance, confusion, and then the understanding and compassion and comfort taking over. Their hearts already racing but taking on a new rhythm as realization began to emerge in all of its scary yet exciting “what is happening”-ness and I think Daphne’s words were once again in Anthony’s head as THIS was the feeling of which she spoke.
Loved their reactions afterwards. Good luck unringing that bell.

I’m like 2 years late to the party but I just started season 1 last night and omg. It’s so good! Where have I been!
Simon is 🔥🔥🔥
The queen snorting coke 🤣
I like Eloise and want to hear more about her story.
I looooove the diversity and the current music done instrumental. So good.

My husband got called in at 3am for overtime and I couldn’t sleep… soooo between then and when my kids went to school and the time I wasted today watching I’m partway through episode 6.
Overall I’m enjoying it. I was concerned about some of the changes to the story but I’m still having fun watching so…

How old is Edwina? Was that ever mentioned?
I love Anthony. I cried a few times during this season. I’m just at a weird stage In my life that I want some sexy rich man to profess his love to me🥲
Also...... I find myself staring at boobs the entire time👀
