New trailer dropped today:
I think I’m going to have to release all of my impressions from the books and just enjoy the series separately.

I'm super excited. That trailer is gorgeous!! I think I'm going to re-read just because I remember nothing but going in with the idea that the books are probably only providing a framework and nothing else.

I think it will be fun in the hectic days leading up to Christmas, especially now that all my boys are home on break.

I started rereading a few weeks ago and I’m on book four (Eloise). Colin and Penelope remain my faves, followed by Anthony and Kate, then Daphne and Simon.

I started rereading today, and I’m remembering that the main conflict in the plot annoyed me. We will see how closely they stick to it.
I am having trouble figuring out how this show is structured. I found something that said eight episodes. Does each sibling get an episode, or will Anthony and Daphne’s story take eight episodes?
Colin and Penelope were the best story if I’m remembering right, so I kinda like to skip to them. But the guy playing Simon is extremely easy on the eyes, so there’s that 😁

I just finished the first book (The Duke & I) so I’m ready for this now. I’m excited to see how they adapt the story.

I've only had time to watch the first twenty minutes of the first episode but I'm impressed.
Everything and everyone looks gorgeous and I have high hopes that this will be a lot of fun to watch.

I watched 2.5 episodes last night and I really love it. It’s absolutely beautiful and I can’t decide if I want to binge it or savor it.

I didn't know there was a book series and I'm glad I haven't read it because I LOVE it. It's the perfect romantic costume drama for this time of year. I'm on episode 4 and I don't think I'm going to be able to keep myself from bingeing.

I needed something a little fluffy and this show fits the bill. Eye candy galore in all the important categories: hot guys, amazing costumes, and gorgeous scenery. For those that have read the books: is it worth reading them after watching the series? Is the show staying true to them or are there more details and side stories in the books?

I also stayed up too late last night watching. Haha. I’m 2 episodes in! I’m loving it so far! I was loving the music and at the balls playing current music. They played thank you next during the first ball. That was hilarious!
I haven’t read the books. I’m wondering if I should start!

Really enjoyed this series! I feel like it was Sanditon wanted to be, and just really failed at. Guess I’ll have to read the books 😂 looking forward to future seasons.
Eloise is my favorite. And Lady Danbury.
The actress that plays Daphne gave me strong Keira Knightly vibes and the actress who plays Eloise looked a lot like the actress who played Kitty in Pride and Prejudice (did not realize it was Caret Mulligan) with KK and it distracted my brain a bit.

byjove I agree with the Daphne-Kiera Knightly vibes. For me, Eloise was giving me baby Zooey Deschanel vibes.

I’m four episodes in, and enjoying it. The actor playing Simon *fans self*. During the scene where he is cheering on his friend at the boxing match I realized my mouth was literally hanging open 😂 I think all the casting is great, Lady Danbury in particular.

The boxing scenes, my gosh. I marathoned 3 episodes last night, going to dive back in after the kids are in bed.
FWIW, I’m a sucker for all things regency. I loved Sanditon on PBS and was hoping for a second season as it seemed so unfinished.

I just watched the first episode and I had to stop myself from watching more because I think I could stay up all night binging. I haven't read the books, I didn't even realize this was based off of anything until I read through this thread.
I recognized Simon from somewhere, and realized he was (is?) in For the People, which I watched for the first season. Very different character, much more sex appeal here!

I didn’t find myself swooning over him in for the people. But he’s definitely got my attention in this!

I just bought all the books on my kindle. I didn't realize there were 9. Should I read before watching?

Watched all of this over two days. I’m enjoyed it a lot. As someone who read the books several years ago and am rereading now, I thought it was a fairly loyal adaptation but the “changes” were mostly for the better. You can’t adapt a book to screen perfectly, as some things just don’t translate. Without the words on the page, it’s more difficult to communicate some things.
I like that they set up future seasons with other siblings. They introduced characters early or differently to set stuff up. The addition of the Queen definitely provides some drama and will probably end up changing some story lines.
I do think they made Lady Whistledown a little meaner/snarkier than in the books and I’m not sure how I feel about that. I’m having a hard time reconciling that with what I know happens later. I’m curious if/how much they will change that story.
I’m surprised at the last shot of the season. Wasn’t expecting to see that until at least next season.

I'm so impressed that they did such a good job on this show. It's incredibly hard to update any romance novel but a Regency that's twenty years old it's crazy. I love how it's become so modern but stayed true to the feelings of the book.
Also although it's all gorgeous and beautiful it's clear that life was so constrained and miserable back then and I like that that comes across just a bit as well.

I binged in 3 days and got my whole French family addicted. Simon is very, very attractive. I love the cinematography, I found myself looking up manors in England for sale last night 😂

I stayed up to 2 pm on two consecutive evenings to watch this. So yes, I loved it.
The hair, the clothes, the romance, the scandal. Some of those sex scenes were very ooh la la. The end was a shocker as well.
Simon is a wowsers hottie and Benedict was lovely eye candy.

We have an international student living with us this year and we’ve started watching shows with closed captions on for her.
We’ve started rewatching GOT and for this show - it makes it so so much better because I don’t miss things in the accents. (Plus I like it when the close captioning people have gotten lazy and skipped words here and there. It’s like an old lady quarantine game I play now)

I watched the first episode and loved it!
I have to admit I was a little worried. I’ve seen some very poor adaptations of books turned into series but I feel like they’ve done a great job. Love the costumes love the actors and actresses they’ve picked. Just lovely.
