Cedric Richmond has tested positive for Covid. Hopefully he's ok. Also, a note that Biden tested negative today (re: his cough).

I'm so happy to hear about Haaland. It's devastating what they've done to native border land for the stupid wall. I hope she can start to repair the damage somehow.

My bush family feelings are very conflicted. On the one hand there is this adorable exchange of candy with Michelle Obama. On the other hand are the Bush political and economic ties to Saudi Arabia. The same guy who struggled through 9/11 the day also allowed 140 Saudis to leave the US right after 9/11...even those with ties to bin laden. His father was very much involved in Iran Contra. I guess I have to be ok with some grey area here, but in some ways HW and W did things just as messed up as what we saw the past four years, they were just sneakier about it. And yet the art, the candy, they get me every time. Oh! There was a blind about the Saudis leaving after 9/11 that was revealed on Black Friday. Apparently Ashley Biden and one of the Bush twins partied while underage at a well known private residence in New Orleans (involving underage drinking and hard drugs). Reportedly, there is photographic/video evidence of this, which was used to manipulate Bush to allow the Saudis to leave.

Under CAN-SPAM laws this is illegal. You MUST have a clear and easy to use way for people to unsubscribe.

So ummm....this is freaking me out. And Also why they didn't purchase more when they had the chance? Though this is worse to me because the vaccines they passed on are going to countries that will use them. They are hoarding a world wide scarcity. The corruption in the face of human suffering is astounding.

Ugh...time to deactivate FB again. 🙄🙄🙄 I can't stand the people who talk out of both sides of their fucking mouth when it comes to covid and the vaccine. "Keep everything open! Low percent die!" But "don't get the vaccine! Side effects!". Pick a lane. And this is also coming from a travel agent who frequently goes to underdeveloped countries with people. I asked if she discourages prophylaxis and inoculation for travel, too. She said I was "trying to pick a fight". 🙄 Nope...pointing out how privileged it is to shit on scientists and healthcare providers who are doing their best. "Please stay home to stop the spread!" "No!!" "Ok well then please wear a small piece of cloth over part of your face." "WON'T!!" "Ok then please take this vaccine that will protect you" "Fuck off!" Make any of it make sense. I get that people don't want to stay home for a year, or can't. But like ....help us help you, right?

Bloomberg story on the Pfizer distribution story. I have to admit my knee jerk reaction is DeSantis wouldn't know the truth if he saw it. Personally, I don't care which vaccine I get, and I thought and think it was a good idea not to put 'all our eggs in one basket' and bet the farm on only one vaccine candidate. In hindsight, taking the additional option would have been great. What I dislike and find typical of the Trump administration is them throwing public shade at Pfizer to make themselves look better. And there's no need. It only makes the administration looks worse. www.msn.com/en-us/money/markets/pfizer-us-wrangle-over-vaccine-pace-while-working-toward-pact/ar-BB1c16jO

Pence held a 4 years of pro life, “Life is Winning”, event yesterday, amid a pandemic where 300k have died. I just can’t.

I saw some clip of Biden being his humble self and saying “I don’t want to skip in line” and I’m like BRO you are the front of the line.

Idk. Something seems fishy. My health system got 5k doses yesterday and were told to expect 15k next week. That’s great for us, but that seems like a lot for one institution when other places are not getting theirs on time. This all makes me nervous for the roll out.

That’s great for us, but that seems like a lot for one institution when other places are not getting theirs on time. This all makes me nervous for the roll out. I don't know that anything's necessarily fishy when dealing with a roll out that makes D-Day look like small potatoes in many ways. Worth watching, surely, and I'm not thrilled that the administration set it up that federal help with the roll out basically stops once the states receive their shipments. What I worry about is how different states are making slightly different decisions in prioritizing recipients. In many cases, I think that makes sense, as each state has such different geographic and other issues to deal with. But, I don't know how well it will go over if people think, hey, if I, a youngish healthy person cross the state line, I could get my shot sooner than in my own state. Even the aspect of vaccinating prison populations, which makes sense, is bound to raise comment I think. In my state, as I read it, some hospital systems were designated as regional centers to receive shipments first and then spread out to other systems. The hospital system I use was supposed to get their first shipment on Tuesday or Wednesday, IIRC, were told it would be late, and got it around 4:00 am Thursday morning. But not all hospitals in my state have the facilities to store Pfizer, or the numbers they need to make ordering Pfizer a good decision - again, from what I've read. Moderna may be logistically a lot easier to roll out, just due to the cold chain? But hey, some of my neighbors are still really confused about whether Chicago got all the shots LOL - spoiler - they got their own shipment and I don't think proportionately the number is different than other areas of the state.

It's possible that they are storing them for smaller systems that don't have the storage facilities required for the vaccine. I know that's what's happening on VA. Larger medical systems with the necessary storage facilities are getting large shipments, storing them, and then breaking them down into to smaller shipments to send them to smaller facilities that can't otherwise store the vaccine.

It was very navel-gazing. Like, oh look at us, we're souch better than the other Christians. Like, he spent paragraph upon paragraph on the virtues of the church, and basically glossed over racial, gender, and LGBTQ issues. I got pissed off when I read "only 8% of Mormon women want ordination for women", like that's a reason to now allow. If you're preventing even just one woman who wants to be ordained, you're doing something wrong. It's ridiculous. I also will never understand how anyone believes the whole "prophets get spoken to by God" thing. Literally, does not compute in my brain.

Yes, I’ve heard that is happening. But this is all for us. Granted we have 35k people to vaccinate just in the medical system (includes two hospitals and tons of physicians and the med school). Just seems weird. My guess is that our officials or maybe CA are cooperating with Pfizer and some other places have left it up to the feds/admin to tell Pfizer where to send stuff and that’s the difference. I just really want to see it spanning out so it has the most impact as it ramps up.

This is in Idaho as well.
All this posturing could be undignified, but I took pride in my ability to walk a certain line. Unlike my co-religionists in Utah—where kids went to seminary in the middle of the day, at Church-owned buildings next to the high schools
LDS kids got 1 credit each year as an elective as well.

And the persecution they have faced...it is very much in line with a lot of the JW stuff I grew up with. Poor persecuted white Christians.

I also will never understand how anyone believes the whole "prophets get spoken to by God" thing. Literally, does not compute in my brain. I have very serious problems with the church. Having been told in kindergarten by my teacher that I couldn't be a very nice little girl because I didnt go to primary as i was the ONLY non lds kid in the school at the time, the problems you mentioned and the fact that while public facing they are 'nice' yet slam everyone behind closed doors 'our lawns look so much better than the catholics'. The fact that when my ex & I were still together, he received an invitation inviting him to a singles mixer, while i was caring for his child and he was living in my house, sending female missionaries to my house to talk to him, random home teachers knocking on my door. (those are actual quotes/personal experiences and not disparaging anyone who may be LDS here).
I will say they DO have the most charitable system of anything I've seen; housing/food/employment are given readily if needed. I just wish the bishop who is in charge of the ward in my area would quit mailing shit to my ex at my house. But HRC and PP really appreciate the donations every time he does.
