Josie has a half day today, and mh is working remotely bc the whole main office staff and admin are all in quarantine. I do t know if they’ll get to go back this week, a f then the district t as a whole pivoted to remote from 12/14-1/8. I’m very happy to have him home while the holidays are at their busiest. I know he’s still working, but it makes a lot of the tasks I have to get done easier.

Morning! Kids are in school today, i have a hair appointment with them this afternoon. We cleared all the Sinterklaas decorations & we’ll have a few days of nothing before setting up all things Christmas.
We have a cosleeper next to our bed, but I still forgot to put baby girl back after nursing her last night, which resulted in us sleeping a 5 hour stretch!

It’s going to be a rough week at school. We have stay at home orders again and a lot of restrictions came back.
I most likely will be working from starting tomorrow unless I have to physically go in. We have 2 people who have asked to keep the office open for people who still have to work.
Because of the new restrictions, people are getting refurloughed. It’s just been a really sad and emotional month.

Good morning. I had to get up early (for me, not the rest of the world) because I'm baby sitting L and N today and their dad had an earlier shift than usual. L has become the sweetest little girl as she's gotten older these last few months. She's really transitioned from being a whiny toddler to a big girl. She's so much fun.

Morning! When my dad starts radiation they'll drive to the hospital 5 times a week for 6 weeks. Hospital 1-1.5 hours away and my mom will likely have to wait in the car for him. I'm putting together a "car tote" for them. Here's what I have so far...any additional ideas???
-Nice collapsible tote -hand sanitizer -disinfectant wipes -gum -mentos -protein bars -protein drinks? -almonds -mini bottles of water -blanket -soft hat specifically for chemo/hair loss Lemon/ginger candy (for nausea) -gas card
What else?

wineallthetime I would put a plastic bag in case he gets sick. My aunt would get car sick to and from chemo.

chrisy01, CA is really tightening up. I heard this morning that they are not allowing hotel stays for under 2 weeks unless you are an essential worker to ward off holiday travel. I really wish airports would put restrictions on flying unless essential as well. I know people will still drive but it would help.

How long will your mom be waiting? I am thinking about stuff for her. phone charger for the car would your mom like a travel dvd player or something similar so she could at least watch something while waiting? hand lotion maybe a blanket to keep in the car so it doesn't have to run the whole time a cooler to keep the water cold and to allow for a packed lunch

I'm honestly not sure how long she will be waiting! I am going to get her a puzzle book cause she likes those.

wineallthetime I like @weddings idea of a portable DVD player (or maybe even a tablet) so your mom can watch something. Other things; Magazines, a book, a notebook to write down questions. Maybe something sentimental like sweet drawings/notes from the grandkids? ETA nice soft jumper, we got my BIL one during the period he got radiation, he really liked it.

Just a regular office day for me.
We watched Godmothered yesterday on Disney+. I missed a lot of it because I was cooking, but liked what I saw. MH and the girls really liked it.

guster I talked to a different rheumatologist yesterday and he said he usually gets the swelling and pain under control before starting PT, but he didn't see any reason we have to wait, so I'm waiting for him to respond to my last message. I'm not sure if the order would have to come from Evie's usual rheumatologist, who is out of the office all week, or not. I convinced her to use her bear that we put in the microwave before bed last night and again this morning and she said her knees felt okay. It's annoying that we still have another month to wait to start seeing the potential full effects of the methotrexate, or no effects at all. And that keeps being brought up. I just want my kid to not hurt all the time!

This is so sweet of you. You have great ideas! Evie prefers ritz crackers for her nausea, they have the smaller sleeves of Ritz and saltines now, maybe a box of those as well.

I was going to suggest this. Word search, sudoku etc, something to pass the time. ETA- I see this has been covered, I should’ve read!

Maybe a gift to audible or iTunes for your mom so she can find audiobooks for downloads and favorite music. You could put together a list of games you can download (or podcasts to listen to) that she might like to play while she waits or even buy physical crossword, word search, sodoku books? It’s very sweet and beautiful. I’m sure they’re going to be very grateful.

I hope they can move the ot along quickly, mwhip! Anything to bring bc her a little relief. Has anyone advise you to look into diet to help control some of the pain? I know that gluten is usually connected to e inflammation.

I had a whole list of ideas in my head wineallthetime, and then I kept reading and I see they were all suggested lol. The only thing I was going to say is that when nauseous, I prefer little animal crackers to saltimes. I find it hard to chew and swallow those. I buy the annies graham bunnies for the kids and munch on those when I'm not feeling well. The kids do too. I like that it has a little sugar if he's feeling week too.

My grandparents have both passed but their very best friends, who were like another set of grandparents to my brother and I, would come visit us yearly ever since. We just found out the husband just passed from Covid. We haven't seen them in a while because his health had been declining, heart issues. But he died 1 day after being hospitalized with it. Luckily she was able to be with him but now has to quarantine for 2 weeks. There will be no funeral. I'm sending flowers and a note but it just doesn't seem like enough. She was our rock when my grandparents passed and we can't even hug her.
