I'm taking my sil for her 1st tattoo. She turned 18 a few weeks ago and I cleared it with my ils first but I wanted to get her her first tattoo. I'm also getting a new one. When my grandma died we all wanted to get something in honor of her. my mom and cousin got it right away. But Mallory was little and I wasn't ready to leave her. So I'm getting the same thing today. Its a carnation. We all got different colors. Grandma loved carnations because in her words "they last forever" expensive flowers wilt and die in a week. But she could make carnations last 3 weeks on her table. This is what I'm getting. Idk what color though. She loved all colors. My mom got yellow. My cousin got pink.

We have moved from the floor to laying on the sofa and she ate a bunch of crackers. Not sure what the day will bring.
We are supposed to go to a housewarming. My middle nephew bought a fixer upper earlier this year and gutted it. We saw it when they were putting sheet rock up, so I'm sure the transformation will be amazing. They created a sign up genius and are only letting so many people in a time slot, we are at 1115 and going with my mom and step-dad. Probably grab lunch after, depending on how evie is doing.

Morning!
It's raining and I am pretty sure it's not stopping, so we're going to keep the boys are busy/occupied as possible so they don't fight all day and/or destroy the house. Wish us luck. DH is baking muffins with them now and I promised to play Don't Break the Ice afterwards. That should hold us to... 10am? Haha.
The rain was falling so hard when I woke up that I stuck to the treadmill. I watched the Christmas Contract on prime video and it helped keep me running despite feeling kinda gross. It's one of my favorites. Not a bad way to start the day.

We talked to my parents last night about moving. It did not go well. All my dad would say is, "We'll think about it." My mother kept coming up with excuses.

Morning! B had a great birthday...loved all his gifts (the electric scooter was a huge hit, and I captured his reaction on video for all time ) and we had a nice dinner out. This morning I managed to get our Xmas card photo taken--kids were surprisingly cooperative!-- and I've been tidying up; we're picking up his cake and balloons in a bit then I need to get back here and tidy up. It's just family so I'm sure they do not expect a lot of fuss but my perfectionist tendencies kick in

tgrimes I'm sorry. I can see pros and cons...would this be a move to where you or your sister are located, or just elsewhere in your parents' current city? I can see why they may resist a cross-country move, but obviously would make it easier for you and your sister to help/supervise his care. Are there any 'intermediate' measures y'all can put in place--home-health aids or similar--to help out?

flamingo We'd obviously prefer that they move closer to us so the kids could see them more often and if something happens we'd be closer. Mom doesn't want to leave the ocean. Ummm, when was the last time your ass went to the ocean? Besides, Galveston is 30 min from me. what about their doctors? We have doctors in OK & TX. what about the sailboat? Your asses haven't been on the boat in 3 years. Everything we mention is immediately shot down. Dad is getting home health currently but he will eventually be discharged from it. They wouldn't qualify unless my dad's dementia gets much worse.

tgrimes ugh. That's so frustrating. Remind me, is your mom about the same age as your dad or is she younger? I hope they come around. And I wish needed care access wasn't so crappy that your dad will be discharged from home care soon. :/ wineallthetime that sounds amazing. peachsmama pretty. Carnations are my favorite too. That's a nice way to honor her.

tgrimes would they consider a retirement community with care team? That way they can live independently our here but have care if needed. The one next to L’s school even has chauffeurs to take them to stores as needed. Pre-covid L’s school would do shows for them.
Some of apartments are super nice. Just an option if they are digging their heels in.

I'm at my other job and as usual the case manager didn't do anything she was supposed to do this month to get our cases ready. I wish she would finally be fired. She's worthless. I'm really happy that I only have to be in person 1 day this month and can work remotely tomorrow, but that's no thanks to our new commander. He made it clear he'd rather have everyone here risking getting covid. It was a decision from someone above him to spread out the in-person coverage. It gets really old to see people not give a shit about you and spreading a virus. In other covid related news, as you might recall I'm fairly certain I had it in the spring. I never could get tested then. Even though I've kept up with my exercise routine and never lapsed in my workouts, when I do cardio now I get out of breath so easily. Eventually I need to get in and get my lungs checked out but I'd imagine the clinics are too busy right now for non-acute care.

At least they wouldn’t have to change doctors though.

Question for the moms that have experience with interventions and what not:
B has been having a ton of difficulty listening at school. He often misses his art project or whatever because he refuses to line up/ throw away snack/ clean up, etc. He does the same at home. It's getting to the point that I get a negative report every day. They are trying hard with him, but I truly believe his social/emotional development is lagging and he just can't listen/transition etc.
I have a conference scheduled w/ his teacher on Monday to discuss. But in emails I brought up the idea of an intervention. I think he might need OT but it's hard for me to find what I am looking for. What should I be searching, exactly, to help him mature?
As a reminder, he is 4 and should be starting K next fall. As of right now, there is no way he could succeed in a K classroom

jewels, I would ask his PCM for a OT/psychological assessment (or if his teacher knows if he has early access in your area for a school psychologist to evaluate him). They could help develop a plan to best meet his needs and know the best providers in the area for referrals. Good luck. I'm sorry he's still having these issues and hope he gets in a program that helps him progress.
