We just went to Ikea kids cups. I put just a little water in them to practice and then go from there. We did use the take n toss cups for a long time. But they are a pain to clean.
We use travel cups and thermos cups now for the kids so that they always have water.

My whole goal with them would be ease of cleaning (vs something more complicated).

For open cup practice we used the metal shot glasses we have already to start, then the ikea kids cups.
We use playtex straw cups for water in bed because they don't leak.
Besides the Ikea cups, our other every day cups are the Evenflo sippy cups. They can be used with or without a lid. The lid stays on if they knock it over, but it would probably come off if it got thrown across a room. R still mostly uses it with the lid since he can be absent minded at meals and it avoids spills.

My whole goal with them would be ease of cleaning (vs something more complicated). It's just the sippy part. But then I don't have a dish wash and everything gets done by hand. The cups themselves were nice because they don't break and are relatively small. The Ikea ones are just more solid. I still like them even for E.

Is it weird that I was kind of disappointed that this thread wasn't about menstrual cups? I think they are such a game changer.

We used 360 cups for a while for water because Nugget was good at drinking out of open cups when I held it for her. Now, she likes to just drink out of the cup part with the top off. For on the go, we have a tommee tippee straw cup or she just uses my water bottle with the fold-out spout. Ikea kids cups are a good size for little hands, or you can probably find some reuseable acrylic shot glasses. I just give Nugget a little bit of liquid at a time when she drinks from an open cup, otherwise she inevitably ends up with a puddle.

These are the 3 main cups at our house. The kiddos will be 13 mo next week. The 360. Yes, it leaks when thrown, or if it gets tipped and smooshed in the diaper bag, but not if it stays upright for transport or even when tipped or shaken in the air. We really like them! The handles make them easy for small hands. Munchkin sippy. These things are great. No leaks whatsoever! Only a small dribble here and there if there's still a bit of liquid in the spout (outside the leak barrier) after they've taken a drink. The only downside is that sometimes my kiddos still struggle with getting them tipped high enough, so I end up holding them. But they're great if they're laying down. These are my go-to distraction to get us through diaper changes. The Camelbak. Both kiddos really like these. They don't have to be tipped, which is a plus for us. They are able to pick them up (with both hands) and drink on their own. Every now and again some water trapped in the valve will leak a little if they get knocked over, but nothing extreme. This last cup, I do not recommend, but many others do, so ::shruggy guy::. We also have these weighted straw cups. Despite the rave reviews from my BMB and MoMs, I hate them. They are easy for them to grab with tiny hands. The kiddos really like them, so I wish I did too, but they leak like crazy. Somehow or another, it's like they create a tiny siphon, and the cup can just be sitting on a table spewing milk from the spout. No one touching it. It's ridiculous. I'll send them to the sitter's in their lunch box, and if it gets tipped in the slightest, there's milk everywhere.

I don't have problems with cleaning the take n toss cups. They're what I sent to daycare for awhile, and send places where they may get lost.
My kids use exclusively 360 cups now, when away from the table. H is great with open cups but does tend to dance around when not seated.

We love the take n toss cups at our house. Z prefers the straw ones, W is better with the sippy ones. When my nephew (almost 3!) is over, he gets the cup without the lid or a 360 cup. We have a few 360 cups, but Z and W aren't really into those. The take n toss come clean really easy in the dishwasher, and the straws are short enough that I can scrub them if something gets stuck inside in the dishwasher.
Mine are almost 10 months, but we're in the process of moving Z to formula in a sippy because she's stubborn and wants all things in sippy cups. W gets all formula in bottles and water in a sippy at meals.

All 3 girls love the camelback eddy cups. The little ones don't get that they have to tip a cup yet so straws are better at the moment. R used the little Ikea cups at the table though and we really love those too.

I just tried to think of what jar I have in my life that is similar to that. Capers. My capers come in a jar like that. Capers are like the polar opposite of dried beef.

I mean, my kid drinks out of glasses too. There are a variety of jars we use. But am I the only one with a baby who drops and throws things? No?

I wish my capers came in this shape jar I would prefer that immensely. Either way the jars are awesome, just not their contents, we can all agree on that.

Do they still make those jelly jars with characters on them you can use as drinking glasses? Those were my favorite as a kid, we had snoopy ones.

For no solid reason I decided to give C a large plastic cup with a little bit of milk in it at breakfast this morning. She splashed around in it, put her toast in it and then shoved it over the side and cried a little bit. So, she's basically a full fledged toddler now.

I love the 360 cups for two reasons: 1. They are so freaking easy to clean! I hate trying to clean spouts or straws so much! 2. My kids take their cups everywhere, and these cups only spill when thrown or maybe if they are put down and smushed and no one notices, but my kids only drink water, so it's not a big deal.
