Yikes, this is really scary. I had severe pre-e with my first and high b/p with my second and I didn't know about the increased risks for heart disease and stroke. I've been to my pcp a few times because my blood pressure tends to hang out on the higher side even before being pregnant but she just keeps brushing me off. And now with being pregnant it's been creeping up higher and higher. I think it's time for a new doctor. Thanks for posting the information. It's so easy to ignore when you're "young and healthy", but definitely need to start working on a healthier lifestyle. You're the fourth woman I've mentioned this to who has said she had pre-e and was never told about the long-term risks of heart disease. That is awful. I'll share anything useful I learn from the program and when we're all not pregnant any more, let's help each other take good care of ourselves. Are you on baby aspirin this time? Are you being monitored closely due to previous pre-e and pre-pregnancy hypertension? In second tri, your BP should be going down (even with hypertension), not up... My OB said I was high risk with my second pregnancy, but hasn't said anything about being high risk with this pregnancy and didn't put me on baby aspirin at all. No extra monitoring either. At my 12 week appointment my bp was 140s over 90s which he didn't like and kept having them recheck it, but haven't had a bp check since then. I've been meaning to do it because I've been having ongoing headaches and some weird vision things going on, which happened with my first, but honestly I've been too scared to check. You had pre-e pretty early on, right? Mine didn't develop until probably 35+ weeks, so I've been burying my head in the sand.

Been a very chilled day today. Soaked DS's poorly finger in warm water as much as he let me, looks better. Looking forward to DH getting home in around an hour and then watching some crappy TV and then bed time.
Going out with my family for lunch tomorrow at DH's restaurant, so a pretty mellow weekend for us

I had mild hypertension in first tri, everything fine for second tri, then around 26 weeks my BP started going up again. Liver function was off throughout third tri, BP continued to rise, put on meds at 30 weeks. Officially diagnosed with pre-e at 37 weeks and induced. IMO you should ask about aspirin, especially if your first tri BP has been that high. Seems weird that your doc isn't taking any extra precautions. Your second pregnancy was fine, I assume? So maybe that's why.

Hi. We just got back from a quicky 24hr trip to Cooperstown. I ran a brutally hilly 5k. I may actually be sore for a few days which is not something I experience with 5ks.
I'm very tired. My kid is a maniac. She's exhausted though so hopefully she'll crash right at 7 tonight so I can follow suit going to bed early.

Is it normal to get braxton hicks this early? All day my stomach has been tightening on and off. And I remember this feeling from DS's pregnancy as it made me slightly breathless as well.
17 weeks tomorrow. Not getting any sort of cramps just the tightenings so I'm not worried, just thought they would start up around 26 weeks like they did with DS.
I have a headache and a slightly blocked nose, I think I have a cold coming on but I'm not letting it defeat me

Oh! I dreamed last night that we had the anatomy US. One baby was a girl, and the other...a giant spider. Wtf. Then somehow Bradley Cooper was involved, and I told him he was my soulmate. I have had some wild pregnancy dreams this time.

Thanks for the information misskilljoy. I had pre-e with my first pregnancy, diagnosed at 31 weeks. I had never heard of the connection with heart disease. I've been on baby aspirin since 12 weeks though and I'm sure they'll be keeping a close eye on my BP (it's been good so far). I don't have any issues with hypertension otherwise but I'll definitely keep the increased risk of heart disease in the front of my mind.

Re: pre-e, I guess the new recommendation is to induce at 37 weeks instead of 39, like it was when I had DD. I wasn't at pre-e level, but it came up in conversation with my friend who is an OB. Just FYI for anyone that also had babies 3 years ago and didn't know!

Usually cold water and lying on your left side is your friend with Braxton Hicks (I have skimmed, sorry if it has already been mentioned!)

I haven't eaten red meat or pork in over 14 years, but man, right about now I would cut a bitch for a saucy rack of ribs.
Pregnancy, why you so weird?

It was in the 90s here today so we blew up a kiddie pool which DS loved. He got to rock his cute new swimsuit and everything. It should be a little cooler tomorrow so we might try the zoo.

We put DS in his toddler bed for the first time tonight. DH is hoping to transition him into a twin bed and use the crib for the baby. So far, so good! He's been in a cot at daycare for naps so it's not new to him. But still. 😢

It will be an adjustment that's for sure. Good luck.

spacecadet thanks! we waited until he was good and tired. I wanted to keep him contained longer but this weekend worked out (long weekend) best. We tethered his dresser to the wall and the rest of his room was already toddler proofed.

I don't know what I did to my kids, but they are obedient to a fault when it comes to staying in bed after they wake up. Which is great in some ways, but not so much when I hear DS over the monitor, "Mama, Mama, Mama, my blanket. It fell on the floor."

Here. Exhausted. Americana came this week so I've been busy photographing and pulling orders. I just want to sleep. Also, if this place goes to shit too I'm out. My brain can't handle any more board hopping. I ended up doing lives. Exhausted and silly, but I couldn't even begin to think about photographing.

My son never slept and he was out of a crib by 18 months because I had to lay with him to fall asleep and he was up 10 times a night. But my daughter sleeps form 8-8 and that's going to hell if she has a bed. I fear for my sanity if that happens.

This past week I've been cursing that ass who rearended me on 5/5. If I wasn't pregnant, it wouldn't have been this big of a deal, but my right hip hurts so bad, it hurts to sit and stand for too long. Right now I'm laying on frozen peas rewatching GOT.

clucky I did one round of albums and then did two lives and a periscope. I've got more Randys and Sloans coming this week but we leave Friday for vacation. I'm thinking I may pre-order them out in my group to save the headache. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just checked on DS ... totally passed out and still in bed! Fingers crossed for this continuing and him not being up at the ass crack of dawn.
