I am starting to see a lot of trampolines popping up everywhere in our neighborhood. Seems like everyone has one. I get that kids love to jump in it but I don't think it's a necessity especially when your backyard can hardly fit one.

MIL was saying we need one of the small indoor trampolines for DS, "like niece and nephew have". 1. He doesn't need everything they have 2. Where the hell would we put it?

I usually try to avoid saying I'll "never" do something, but trampolines are one of those things I truly don't think I would ever get for my children. The risk of injury scares me too much. Not to say I would forbid my kids from using them, I just don't think I'd have one at home.
That being said, I haven't done research and I'm sure there are things they will play with that could potentially be more dangerous, but trampolines are one of the things that just make me paranoid.

I'm not getting a double stroller once #2 is born. ((Gasp.)) The main reason we got one (used bc fuck paying retail for those things) is for dog walks. That bitch goes 3x/day 365 days a year (2x in severe weather), and when DH is back at work 1-2 of those will be on me. That said, I've seen people talk about navigating doubles through doors and malls and stuff, and I realize that I can hardly think of a time in 2 years that we've used DD's stroller indoors. I just don't bring her shopping to places that don't have carts.

Re: Trampoline. There's netting all around so it looks safe but I don't know. I think DS is too young still, maybe older i'll allow him to try at a friends or something. There's certainly enough in the neighbourhood that DS can go jump at eventually but it's huge and cumbersome so nope for us. moonandback141, It would totally depend on your lifestyle. I personally won't get one even if DS was younger, I'd baby wear and before to long, DS can walk on his own but I might have a different tune to whistle if I relied on public transit or lived in a city maybe? dunno but def not for us.

I'll likely babywear more than I'd use a double stroller myself, but I did get one for my mom. She is the nanny for DS and will be for #2, and our neighborhood is great for walks. She has used DS's stroller way more than I have.

DD loves a big trampoline and has been jumping on one (at a gym) since she was 18 months old. I don't know that we will ever have our own at our home, but we do have one of the little 3' round ones for her to bounce in when I need hee to stop bouncing on my couch.

I bought a used double stroller for traveling because DNW to haul 2 kids, car seats, carry on bags/diaper bag etc through the airport without one. But for regular use I plan to babywear and have DD walk mostly (she'll be 3) or use the single stroller and babywear to give DD a stroller break as needed.

It's DD's fave part of gymnastics, and if she jumps on the couch or in her crib I tell her she can jump on the trampoline instead.

Re double stroller: we're not getting one either. I have a double bob on my registry but we're going to wait and see if we actually need it (I don't think we will)

Add me to the trampoline aversion and the no double stroller plans. If we were in the states, I'd be tempted by a double...but where we live it would be nearly impossible to use (poor infrastructure and lack of sidewalks).
Another UO from me - I do not understand parents that get ATVs for their little kids to ride around on. My brother and SIL bought a mini ATV for their 7 year old...the 5 year old even uses it. I've seen the 5 year old actually try to run over their 2 year old with it. I've seen the 7 year old nearly flip it. I was a pretty responsible kid, and I wouldn't even have trusted my 7 year old self with an ATV. They also have a trampoline that they never supervise their kids using. Their kids are CONSTANTLY going to the ER and getting hurt - like, the people in the ER know all 3 boys by name now.
I know it's a country/rural lifestyle thing for them - but I just think the ATV thing is really unsafe, especially since their kids are so wild and undisciplined.
