If you haven't watched the movie Outbreak in recent years (literal monkey chase to find the host of a deadly virus with Dustin Hoffman and Cuba Gooding Jr.) it is such a delightful turd. When they finally get the host monkey Hoffman purposefully exposes himself to his infected ex-wife as a bravado big dick move to win her over because Cuba is in a van taking blood samples so he can magically create 1000s of vaccines within a few minutes.

I’m in for the vaccine if it comes out tonight. T’s best friend’s grandpa died yesterday from covid. He picked T’s friend up from school while I picked T up for the past 4 years so I talked to him everyday and I’m devastated for them. Ironically, Hawaii and DC are the only places not on our travel ban list and he got it from someone who was in DC. I will also never get over my grandma dying alone in a nursing home (even though not from covid) and us only seeing her twice outdoors in the last 6 months of her life.
I feel that where I live, in the next 6 months we will either get vaccinated or get covid. Although I feel very confident that everyone in my house could fight it, I could never live with myself if we give it to someone who can’t.
From what I read, children are not even on the radar for vaccination for a long time. I want to get it before they do.

Apparently one of the attorneys went off on our accountant yesterday because she put her mask on when he was coming down the stairs. He was apparently offended that she thought he had it. She tried to explain that she wears it for HIS safety in case SHE has it without symptoms. He started saying how he wishes he would just get it already so he could be done with it. That he has friends who have gotten it are just fine, the death rate isn't that high anyway, blah blah blah. I told her she should have asked him if he thought the relatives of those who had died would say the same thing about the death rate.

cagoldi, wow. Big no to that. Speaking of the covid vaccine, who would get it if it were available today? I personally would wait it out a bit and everyone I've talked to says the same so I'm curious. I will get it as soon as it’s available to me. All vaccines have to go through the same testing to prove safety and efficacy. I follow a couple people on IG who are infectious disease experts and they both say they will also get it. My guess is your employer will require you to get it like the flu shot.

I'm not sure what my time frame is that would make me feel 'safe' when we don't know long term side effects, and won't for years. But I'd prefer to wait 6 to 12 monthsish. Not sure that will be an option for the kids attending in person school. As far as I know they haven’t tested it for kids so they won’t be vaccinated for covid for a while.

cagoldi good to see you! Yikes to your dad. I hope he's okay. Regarding the Orange KoolAid I read an article about patients dying of Covid at the hospital in S. Dak and literally still saying Covid is a hoax. Woof. trtlcrzy the deniers who get me the most are the medical people. It's infuriating. Yeah, that nurse is on the other side of the state. I read her Twitter thread first and was in disbelief. There is a covid group for the state on fb so a lot of times I hear things there pretty quick. cagoldi covid can cause pneumonia which is usually a sign it’s getting pretty bad. I don’t say that to scare you. I hope your dad is better soon.

I got the lower Christmas lights on this afternoon while V napped. DH will have to work on the roofline lights this weekend. I’ve decided I want to get the big C9 bulbs for up there so I’ll have to go pick them up first.

I would get it, but I don’t know how effective it would be since I don’t produce sufficient quality or quantity of immunoglobulins. My best guess is that it would be similar to the flu in that I get the shot, I still get sick, but it’s not as bad as it would have been otherwise.

I will probably get the vaccine when I am able. We don’t know the long term effects of COVID either but do know that you could die from it, have irreparable heart or lung damage, or continue to be symptomatic for long periods. Given that me and my mom are high risk, I think it will probably be the smartest move to get vaccinated. That's a really good way to look at it wedding. DH and I have been discussing it a lot and we know unless a lot of people DO get it, numbers won't come down. If it's Covid or a vaccine, I think I will go with the vaccine.

Also I am so sorry you're dealing with that kind of crazy cagoldi. My Mom at least tries to hide her craziness from us. To some extent, at least.

mamabear I’ve watched it. I started a board in the celebrities/blinds/tv board. I’m so glad this season was good because last season was hard to finish because it was so slow.
