Morning! I've been reading along, but often hours behind and having trouble keeping up. I am sorry I haven't been able to respond or anything, esp to those that seem to be in a tough spot.

So last week, we decided to throw a last minute party for S, even though his birthday isn't till the 25th. MH headed out of town on Monday and has to quarantine for 2 weeks upon his return so it was then or December.

We told him he could invite 5 friends, and it wound up all being families we knew well so Saturday we had the families over in the back yard with heaters and a firepit. The kids did old school games (races, pin the pokeball on the pokemon, etc) and instead of typical favor bags, I did a prize table and they got to pick their prizes after each game. The kids loved it so much. I was told multiple times that it was the best party ever.

Then Sunday we got an email that school, which had just gone from virtual to hybrid on October 26, was going back to all virtual the next day till JANUARY 19. S was loving school and there had been 0 cases at his school, so we were pretty bummed about that.

Morning. I’m just hanging at home with the baby while the big kids are at school. S’s teacher was back this morning so I hope that means she doesn’t have covid. Either way she was wearing a mask at least. I need to pick up my house, it’s a cluttered mess. Then tonight I have to work.

lahdeedah My brother sent a text and said she's feeling better, still on oxygen and they started her on an antibiotic. Which seems kind of weird, google tells me antibiotics don't treat Covid, but I'm guessing it's for a secondary infection. They still haven't provided test results.

I was up early this morning to help get the boys ready for Mh to take them and dozed off after they left. I just got up. Whoops! Finishing my coffee and I have to head out to run a few errands.

Maybe pneumonia? Glad she is feeling better.

I'm patiently waiting for a call from my dad's case worker at the hospital to see if his medicare policy will cover home health, etc and get all of that sorted out.

I don't feel old enough or intelligent enough to be dealing with this crap.

jewels , I'm glad the party worked out. I'm sorry about the schools. This is all so hard for these kids. 


We are expecting an announcement today about schools. I know the teacher's union is pushing to close until January but I am hoping they will go by districts since our schools have seen very few cases. C's had one that was a staff member who worked in two schools and it had been over a week since they had been at his. Our stats here have shown more cases coming from those students who are distance learners than the ones in school, which tell us they aren't staying home and I think it will actually be worse if schools close.

You got this! Insurance and medical things are two of the hardest things in life to navigate for everyone.

Just got another update:
She is only on oxygen right now. Without oxygen she gets winded quickly. No IV drips. Chest looks like pneumonia but could be covid. Covid test result is expected this afternoon then they'll start further treatment. Guessing the pneumonia and covid treatments are different since they haven't already started it.

So it could be Covid, but my brother did confirm last night that my SIL was around another teacher last Wed and Thur, and then the substitute in this teachers classroom Friday, the other teacher tested positive for Covid Monday.

tgrimes you are definitely intelligent to handle your dads care plan. Look at all the time you spent in drs offices for H and you quickly picked up on all that...this is just more you get to learn and I'm sure the staff will explain things and provide options to help you make an informed decision.
