Cadence wants a face mask with an animal face on it. Like the nose and mouth or whatever. Does anyone have masks like this that they like? My mom got L some. Let me find out where.

I think she's still traumatized from her previous experience, where they had her keep her eyes open and did it. I took her to a pediatric ophthalmologist this time and she was sitting on my lap, then they leaned us back in a chair so she would be laying down on me, which made her freak out. The lady told her she could close her eyes and she would pull the corner open softly to put the drop in, but evie flipped out. It made the appointment last 15 to 20 minutes longer whole we convinced her it was fine. Ugh. I'm so sorry. I've mentioned before I'm a child life specialist and help kids through various procedures. You are right on track with practicing! I'd start by having her be the Dr and have her do it to a doll while asking her things like, "How do you think Polly feels about it", "Can we think of some different ideas to make Polly feel more comfortable/less scared/ect?". And then offer ideas that might help E....sing a favorite song, squeeze your hand/stress all, take really deep breaths and pretend you're blowing out birthday candles, talk about a favorite place/memory. Then also talk about after. "Wow, Polly was so brave!". I'd make sure to say things like it's ok to be scared, Polly/Evie has one VERY important job and that is to stay still, ect.

Thank you wineallthetime, I will definitely work on all those ideas the next 3 months. I was so frustrated at the end of it and said not nice things so this will be a good way for us to reset and work together on it.

I’m alive. My mom was pissed but then she actually cried real tears. I told her we were going to lunch so we ate on a patio and drank wine. Then I took a nap.

Hi, from an Uber. My mother doesn’t know I’m coming so I’ll let y’all know how pissed she is at me when I knock on her door. This seems risky with your mom. Most parents would be excited...your mom is not 'most.' Good luck! The eye dr was traumatizing. If this is what it's like everytime, I really don't know how it will work. She LOST HER SHIT when it was time for the eye drops to dilate her eyes. I was holding her arms down and she was scream crying. Afterward, it was as if nothing happened. I told her we are going to practice with just regular eye drops. Anyone have other ideas? Do they have to dilate every time? I think my eye doctor said it’s every few years for us.

trtlcrzy Unfortunately yes, they have to dilate every time. They have to check the pressures to make sure they are normal and dilating is one of the ways they check. I was hoping it would be at least every other time.

Neither therapist showed up today. The nurse said they’re almost at full capacity. I get it, but damn.
