inthekitty That was going to happen to us, but the other way around. So if you stayed DL, you'd get a randomly assigned teacher. I don't know what happened with the rest of the district, because it's so large, but at our school, the parents raised such a fuss that they didn't end up doing it. The teacher in the classroom still teaches in front of her computer, in order to keep the class together *stuck in box* It's a no-win situation because I think it's horrible for the teachers to try to simultaneously teach DL and in person and the DL students have to be missing out on a lot. But mixing up the classes midyear sucks too. I'm so over 2020. Yup. My sister teaches this way and she hates it. M's teacher is actually teaching the same way she was teaching DL and M is on headphones in the classroom watching her on her device. That's dumb, too. |

I'm still cautiously optimistic, but even with a Biden win I'm still disturbed by the sheer amount of racist, ignorant bigots out there. We really, really, really need better education in the US. It doesn't even take critical thinking to see through Trump, just basic low level thinking. My kids can see that he's a total jackass. Yet here we are with so many who have seen just what kind of a president he'd be and they want more. The thought of no plan throughout the whole pandemic is frightening. As much as I don’t agree with this line of thinking, this is what I’ve heard from people I know: I’m voting for policy not the person. Dumb. Better than the people that love him. |

Several people in my office voted for Trump solely because of abortion. They will always and forever vote republican, only for this reason. Which is insane because abortion rates go down during democratic presidenticies. |

Several people in my office voted for Trump solely because of abortion. They will always and forever vote republican, only for this reason. Which is insane because abortion rates go down during democratic presidenticies. That's not entirely accurate. Abortion rates have been decreasing since Reagan was President, there's not really any definitive conclusions that policy change under different presidents had any effect on these numbers. I know there were some things circling in social media recently about this, but there are so many factors at play, especially at the state level. I believe there is a decline in pregnancies total, not just a decline in abortions. |

I just got a bill from anesthesia for H's surgery in July. $715. Augh.
Good thing I already bought all their birthday & Christmas gifts!

But early in his term Trump pulled some fuckery to decrease access to BC and sex ed. I admittedly don't remember the details regarding the sex ed but it was early on and involved a program in which we assist third world countries. The BC matter was attacks on the ACA. He goes out of his way to take the extra steps to be an ass. |

I'm going insane trying to figure out what my kid wants help with on the computer. I've decoded that "backpass" is "backspace" and "curl" is "control." Yesterday C somehow turned on the blind assistance and it was reading every damn thing she clicked. Took me an embarrassing amount of time to figure out how to turn it off.

Oh and in other good news... We’re back in to our ‘intelligent’ (term our president uses) lockdown, meaning stay at home orders, wfh is mandatory, no more gatherings over two outside (with the exception of a family), library’s, museums, zoos, theaters, cinema’s etc are closed (restaurants were already). However gym clubs/saunas are allowed to stay open because ‘emotional well-being’ 🙄. Schools will also stay open, against cdc advice to close 10-11-12 grade.
Numbers are going down a little, just not fast enough.
