I know there's a true crime forum, but it seems dead. Spam me with your podcast recs?
I prefer series vs one off episodes.
Thanks!

Last podcast on the left is my favorite. I think they are only on Spotify now. they also cover other topics so read the descriptions. It's a good balance between well-research and a bit comedic.
Also echo dirty John.

My current library: Big Mad True Crime: I started listening because she did a couple episodes about a local case that I shared mutual friends with. It starts as a 8-10 episode series about the Watts Family murder by Chris Watts, but after that it is generally 1 off episodes with an occasional "mini" series of 2-4 episodes throughout. I like her. She's factual and a little snarky/sarcastic. Kind of feels like shit talking with your girlfriends about true crime.
Confronting OJ Simson: it's hosted by Ron Goldman's sister and is so so biased to OJ being a murdering dick. If you think OJ is a murderer, you'd probably enjoy this.
Counter Clock: there are two seasons so far. The first season is about a cold case in an Outer Banks town in the early 90s and the second is a very similar case in either the same or a neighboring town and how very similar they are with such different outcomes.
Crime Junkie: generally one off episodes, but occasional 2 episode cases.
Cupable: the "suicide" of Christian Andreacchio and how botched the investigation was.
Dateline: basically Dateline episodes in audio form.
Fatal Voyage: there are 3 seasons and each season is a different well known fatal accident: Natalie Wood, Princess Diana, and JFK Jr.
Infamous America: it's kind of like a lesson about historical true crimes. The first two seasons, Salam Witch Trials & Black Sox, were a little slow, but the host's voice is fantastic and it's really interesting.
Jensen & Holes, The Murder Squad: they kind of crowd source cold cases? If that makes sense...
Last Seen: a series about the art heist at the Isabella Stewart Museum that is still unsolved 30 years later.
Mob Queens: not so much true crime, but it is interesting since Anna Genovese, the matriarch of the Genovese crime family.
Wondery: they have a couple different series, Murder in Hollywood, The Black Dahlia Serial Killers, The Dating Game Killer, Young Charlie. They're all good and I really enjoyed them.
The Killing of: the first season is about Marilyn Monroe and was well done. The second season is about Jon Bennet and I ended up skipping a lot because while well done, was also absolutely heartbreaking to hear.
I also have My Favorite Murder, Selena: a star dies in Texas, and Noble Blood on my lists. I'm still unsure how I feel about Selena, but MFM & NB are both great.

I'm very picky about podcasts - I hate more than I love. My favourties for true crime are:
- Someone knows something - Canadian True Crime - Morbid

Blood River The Lost Kids Dr Death Paper Ghosts (kind of blah but it’s a series a lot of people seem to like) Uncover Dear John
Non series I love are MFM, Casefile, Crime Junkies, Criminal
Also highly recommend The Dream though it’s not really true crime, it’s really interesting

Ones I like covering a whole story per season, probably all repeats but adding my vote:
To Live and Die in LA Bear Brook Paper Ghosts (is ok) Appalachian Mysteria Case Closed Over My Dead Body There’s Something About Pam
Not True Crime exactly but close and following one thing all season: The Dream (Season 1 only) Something Was Wrong (about people’s experiences with someone mentally ill and/or dangerous)

I second the Cold podcast about Josh Powell. It is really well done and fascinating. Definite trigger warning for kid stuff.

Bardstown is super interesting and there are recent updates, so may be good timing.
In the Dark (both seasons very good)
A Killing on the Cape
Direct Appeal (about Melanie McGuire)

Lots of great suggestions! I’ll add 22 Hours: An American Nightmare, Man in the Window, The Shrink Next Door (not really true crime, but a crazy story). Not a series but A Date with Dateline is another light one.

Most of my faves were mentioned
In the Dark and S-town were just outstanding. Bear Brook is amazing and has a pretty cool ending (especially if you were listening in real time).
I liked Dirty John
Two I really love that I didn't see mentioned here are Breakdown (really good journalism) and The Clearing.
Stay away from Mile Marker 181. It was an interesting story but some shit has since gone down between the host and the family and it's yucky knowing what I do now

I'm surprised at the amount of people saying Paper Ghost is just ok. To me the story is wild with all of the ties that the family has to people that have been killed or disappeared.
I really liked Happy Face, there are so many that have been mentioned I cannot remember if this one has been or not. I will warm you tho, some things can be very graphic with that one.
There are some on here that I have listened to, but a ton I haven't. It looks like from the amount of snow we've gotten today we're in for a.lomg winter already. I'm pumped to start them!

Interesting. I did notice that Karen & Georgia had started listing resources somewhat recently, so I wonder if that has something to do with it.

And I was so disappointed it went that way because its local to me and I've always felt there was more but never able to get the story so I thought we were finally going to get more.
