I had a flat tire and had to walk, well waddle, home from city centre... Oh no that stinks! How far of a walk was it? Really not that far about 1.5mi, but with a bike, a kid, groceries and my pregnant belly it was not fun 🤦🏼♀️. ETA I mean normally I walk that quite often, but with my back I just can’t really do this at this point. |

Morning!
I’m at the derm waiting for my Botox checkup...since it was my first time seeing her for this she wanted to have me come in to make sure I’m happy.
Saw Bradley off and I may swing by C’s school if I can time it right with her drop-off (it’s picture day so I did her hair before I left but who knows what it will look like by school-time 😳). I’m going to miss them but am really looking forward to a break.

cagoldi good see you! How have you been holding up? We’re good, just busier than ever. Dude’s pedi called me last week after reviewing everything and confirmed yes, Dude has ADHD. She is not terribly concerned about it at the moment since it’s definitely predominantly inattentive or combined type, but she said as schoolwork gets more challenging we will likely see worsening of symptoms. School is not bad ATM because he’s still 💯 distance and I sit next to him all day bringing him back to task and giving frequent breaks, but it’s likely to be a different story once he’s in class. So, we’ll see. We’re going to continue the equine therapy and find a psychologist that specializes in ADHD and then go the meds route if necessary. X started in person cohorts at his special ed program on M/W from 8:30-10:30. They’re the only kids allowed back for in-person instruction right now. There are only eight kids there each day, divided into two classes. Poor guy was terrified to see a bunch of grown-ups in masks with shields, but since we were outside they pulled down their mask to show him it’s his old teacher and helpers, then he was great. |

Parts of the city did yesterday but nothing around this area. They follow HISD weather closures however HISD covers a huge area. So I understand why they closed their offices, but daycare should be open. The teachers all live around here so its not like they're having to drive far. |

cagoldi it depends so much on the ability of the teacher to provide structure (and grace) seriously some kids thrive with simple adjustments in class. For example a place up front, or in the back, noice cancelling ear headphones, a removable shield on a desk. Of course it also depends on the severity of it. He’s lucky to have you as an advocate for him.

tgrimes, i asked my brother if they were flooding in his area. He said not at his apartment, but apparently on his drive to work he almost got his car stuck in high water. I had to remind him of the turn around, don't drown slogan. He was not impressed.

So yesterday on Cadence's reading assignment, she was recording herself reading -i- family words or whatever and she was sounding out each and every word. They were 3 letters and some of them I could have sworn she knew. So, when she was done I said, look at all those words. Do you know what any of them say without sounding them out? yes. Then why were you sounding all of them out? I thought that was what I was supposed to do.  I told her from now on if she knows the word, then don't sound it out, just read it. |

Morning. I can’t remember if I updated on the orthodontist appts yesterday. He said he doesn’t want to do anything right now for H, just see her back in 9 months. She will definitely have crowding.
For me he said I need braces for 2 1/2 years. I have a canine tooth that is still up in the gum so I will need to see an oral surgeon. He said they put a gold chain on it and pull it down gradually. If it won’t come down then they will pull it instead. But, we found out that DH’s insurance only covers orthodontics until 26, super lame. Luckily open enrollment is coming up at my work so I am going to double check on their dental insurance and sign up if they cover ortho for adults. If all else fails we can always do a payment plan.
I should have went to bed right away when I got home yesterday, but of course I didn’t. So I am very tired today. I’m glad we don’t have anything going on this afternoon so I can take a nap. Also, sweet baby V is 3 months old today!
