I know we have sort of dispersed but I still check in here time to time. How is everyone handling the craziness that is 2020? How's your kiddo?

I am in higher ed so work as I know it has changed a bit in the classroom. I'm learning to have students both in class and on Zoom at the same time. Am I as effective? No. But I get my job done.
Our daycare had shut down for 6 weeks at the beginning of COVID and my mental health tanked. I decided to take a genetic mapping test to help guide my doctor in the direction of medication my genetics would respond to. My new anxiety med works like a charm. I went almost a full month without a panic attack. I had one tonight but I was in a crowd for the first time since March so I just wanted to escape which I think is typical.
K is growing like a weed and is on copy cat status constantly. He will repeat everything other people say.
Is anyone planning on ToTing on Halloween? I heard some places are banning it?
Hope you all are doing well!

Hi! I check in here every so often. Things are crazy but we are managing. My little guy is in school full time because NYC has universal 3 year old pre-k and his schools enrollment is low so they had the space for 5 days a week. He loves it. My big kid is supposed to be in hybrid by NYC hasn’t started it for her grade level yet. We have been doing remote with her for about a week. It’s easy to do remote with her when there isn’t and almost 3 year old bugging her. I have been out of work this whole time. I am doing back next week. Pics of little man.

Our daycare was closed from mid-March to mid-July. We made it work and have had no issues until this week. Cold season is starting and with any symptoms we now have to get Covid testing. H had a runny nose and sneezing on Thursday so in he went with my husband. He’s not allowed to go back until he gets a negative test and results are currently taking 2-10 days. Sounds like half the daycare is off right now for testing. Ontario is doing much better than the US but did just have their highest number ever yesterday (700+). Thankfully my city had no cases over the weekend, I think only 18 active cases right now. In other news, I’m having a second baby in March! Not sure yet about Trick or Treating. We were in Italy last year at Halloween and because H doesn’t have older siblings, he’ll probably have no idea if we don’t do it. Will still get a costume though. jessijean That’s great news about the new anxiety meds. I’m so glad they are working for you. marygracerich Good luck with work! I’m sure it will be a big change after being off for so long.

Congrats cake! I have a good friend in the Niagara region and I'm so jealous of your COVID rates. My state is #2 worse in the nation right now and it angers me how many have returned to business as usual. You would have thought our city council enacting a mask mandate was ripping limbs off. I don't know if I posted but I was recently under quarantine for exposure at the clinic and literally the only place I went was standing outside to pick up the kids and no contact grocery pick up. We still don't go in stores or restaurants. 🤷♀️ It sounds like Canada is just overall handling things better and more seriously. I'm sorry about the daycare issue but I get it.

It’s crazy to see how different things are in other countries. My city was the first in the country to implement mandatory masks in public places back in June. I think there’s something like 98% compliance. Hopefully we’re able to pull it together and this second wave won’t get out of control. Wishing you guys the best of luck. Maybe things will change for the better after the election 🤷♀️
