Have whoever in the family who can keep it together for a phone call make the appointment and ask who is allowed in room, if authorizations and payments can be done over the phone. That will be easier to get payment and paperwork away from the moment.
Some animals ive been able to handle going, some I've done all alone, some my kids even accompanied (older elementary 8 ish) and some I couldnt handle even getting in the car.
Vets are used to kinda being up in the air as to who will want to be in the room right up to last minute. Its always been a very emotional yet peaceful end. My last dog hadnt slept for days and walked the floor all weekend, when he got the first sleepy medicine he started snoring so very loud and everyone in the room started laughing and felt so much relief that he could finally lay down and sleep. 😭

Thank y'all for all of the kind words. My SO said she was acting fine yesterday afternoon when he got home. I didn't fully believe him,, but when I got home, she was acting much happier, was eating, barking at the neighbors, and was more her normal self. The vet had told me that she would have good days and bad days, so now I'm second guessing putting her down right now. This morning she was also her normal self. She has 6 more days left of Peroxicam (the drug they gave us to alleviate symptoms), so I'm not sure if I should keep monitoring how many good days she has versus bad days and reassess when we go back to the vet for her scheduled check up next week, or just stick with putting her down this weekend. SO doesn't think she needs to be put down yet. He sees her more than I do on the weekdays (he is off by 10am) and thinks she is acting relatively "normal" and happy. All of this is just so hard.

Oh girl. I'm so sorry. Believe me, vets have seen it ALL during euthanasia. So do whatever works for you. I can guarantee that the techs and vets that are present will give your pup tons of comfort and love. This. Don’t give it a second thought on what they will think of you. It’s completely up to you on how you want to handle it. When I worked as a tech some people would drop off, some would leave just before, some would stay for an hour after. There’s no “right” way to grieve. I’m really sorry you all are going through this.

She just passed away after having four really great days. She went outside and laid in the dirt this morning so I brought her in and gave her a bath and blow dried her hair. After her bath she was laying next to me and I was petting her. I think we laid there for 30 minutes or so. All of a sudden her breathing slowed down and she passed.

I'm so sorry to read this, but so glad your pup had some great days and passed peacefully with you by her side. That's about the best anyone could ask for in this situation.
I came in to this thread b/c our sweet lab was diagnosed with cancer this past week. Honestly one of the hardest weeks I've had in recent years. It is so, so tough. My thoughts are with you <3

My thoughts are with you <3 She got diagnosed with cancer 26 days ago and the vet said no dog that he has came in contact with survived longer than 25 days 😔 This last month has been awful and absolute gut wrenching. I'm so sorry your fur baby got diagnosed also. Cancer sucks. I hope you experience a better outcome than what we did.
