When we adopted our kitty a few months ago we got a standard litter box (just a plastic tub one). I can't stand the smell and litter being tracked everywhere.
I'm also struggling on where to put the box.
So please tell me if you love your litter box and why.

Ours is kind of like this, but without the little steps. I feel like a lid is a must. We have a hall closet by the laundry room that we keep the box in. We just leave the door cracked. It’s sort of annoying having to leave the door cracked and losing that storage space (we don’t keep anything else in that closet). But not as annoying as keeping the litter box in the laundry room.

In the basement with a kitty door in the basement door. Litter box with detachable hood helps with the tracking of litter.

Ours is in the powder room on the main level for now (we've had the cat for 6 days), but eventually will move to the basement long term. We started out with a lidded one and I'm glad we did... I hear the amount of kicking around in there that the cat does and can't imagine the mess he'd be making otherwise.

Ours is in the dining room because the cat pees in that corner whether there's a litter box there or not. I don't recommend it.

What litter are you using? We find a clumping one is key to stink management.

Top entry litter boxes, and Arm & Hammer Slide litter for multicat (even with just one cat. The other variety they have has so much perfume in it I almost prefer the smell of cat poop.)
Ours is in our powder room, but in the future when I have money to burn for fun, I'm going go refit a cabinet in my laundry room for a litter palace.
Oh, and get a litter genie, and scoop the litter no less than once a day.

Our box is the standard one. The enclosed one, my cat would probably not go in. When we first had her, we had a one bedroom condo. Littler box was in the living room, so I cleaned it twice a day. Then we moved to a house with a basement and it went in there. Ended up getting two boxes so that I didn't have to go down as often. Now, we live in TX, no basement. We have it in the small closet under the stairs and have to leave it open a crack. I would prefer a kitty door, but my husband does not want to damage the door. I use no fragrance clumping litter. It smells mostly now because she is on special food for her thyroid. Otherwise, it would be fine.

There is also a baking soda sprinkle you can use to put on the litter. I use a litter genie, so I sprinkle it on there mostly.

We use feline Pine and there is literally zero odor. My mom is over often-sensitive nose-and she will say something if she smells an iota of cat piss.

Honestly I might have to buy one like that fancy cabinet sooner rather than later because we’re in basically a tiny house now and I don’t know where to put it (MIL has graciously kept our cats while we move/get settled). Or I will put a dog door on the garage? I don’t know. We’ve always kept it in the laundry room but our laundry room is tiny now.

Ours is in the laundry room, we have a cat door on the door. I also have one of those double long boot tray things under Heath so any litter.that tracks out just stays in the tray.
I also find that the scented litter always smells WAy worse. My fav is the arm and hammer clumping one, unscented. But last time I accidentally bought a scented box and I hate it.

Worlds Best Cat Litter really is the best. Doesn’t matter what kind of litter box if you use that litter.

I have the same done one posted above. I can’t stand tracking so I switched to Feline Pine. It’s made of sawdust pellets and they don’t stick to the feet at all so there no tracking. It’s not clumping but it clumps enough to get the pee out. It doesn’t cover poop smell as good as the fragrances ones but I scoop daily and I would rather that than the tracking.

Our house is small so it’s in our bedroom because the dog and cat don’t get along. We have a top entry Mod Kat litter box and I let the litter with charcoal and I can’t smell anything.

I use an antibacterial unscented clumping litter (Walmart brand) in a covered box. Unscented is a must. I also bought a cat litter mat that sits in front of the box to stop the tracking of litter through the house.

Ours is in the laundry room and we have a mat underneath it that helps trap litter when they dig and exit. It’s not foolproof, but it helps!

We switched to the Tidy Cats Breeze system. One cat hates hooded boxes and kicks some of the pellets out, but they are easy to get back in the box and don't get tracked all over the place.

I have a covered litter box and I use Worlds Best for multicats. I only have one cat (for the next 15 hours since our kitten arrives tomorrow) but I ordered another covered box for the kitten too.

We were talked into the Petsafe Scoop Free liter box when we adopted our kitten last year. It was a bit expensive but with our concerns (always cleaning, liter & dust everywhere) we just decided to go for it. It's been amazing. After the kids initial I'll clean the liter box etc. And I'm the one stuck doing it (admittedly once a week) I'm not complaining since it's really not a big hassle with this box. We have been buying the Petsafe crytal liter it comes with as replacement on Amazon as well. Ours is kept in the basement.

We have one in the basement and one in an upstairs closet. We use the open ones because one of our cats really hates the cover. We keep a waterproof bathmat under each box because our boy cat occasionally misses the box. The mats also help prevent tracking. Both of my cats are seniors and the tracking has gotten worse as they get older and have trouble burying things well. Scooping frequently (often twice a day) really helps that. And a litter genie or steel trash can with a rubber gasket is your friend when it comes to scooping.

We have one in the garage and a cat door to it. There is no way I can live with one in a main living space.

If you have the money, the litter robot is amazing. I wasn’t about to spend that kind of money, but my sister got one and said it was the best thing ever. So I followed suit and agree.

We have a covered box but had to take the flap off because her preshus shelf wouldn’t go through the flap even though she’d use the cat flap in the closet door to get to the litter box 🙄. Since moving it’s now down in the unfinished basement
