I saw something called a crisper tray at Marshalls and bought it on a whim. It has changed my life ... with perfectly cooked French fries and oven bacon (actually comes out crispy!!) I think I am in love!! What is your favorite kitchen gadget and why???

Does my unfancy wine opener and my air-sucker-outer so I can re-cork my bottles count?

I really don't do much in the kitchen. I feel bad because a relative bought us the kitchenaide mixer for our wedding and I've used it once in 3.5 years. It actually gets used as a weight on the floor to hold our oven door closed... lol.

H got this raclette making grill thingy as a gift from his company. It's little, but gets super hot and we use it primarily to grill steaks because we don't have a BBQ and it's cold here most of the year. We have not once used it to make raclette, even though it came with a recipe.

theoprah - I'm curious about your previously non-crispy oven bacon.... how were you cooking it prior to the crisper tray? I've been an oven bacon convert for years - specifically because I like my bacon 100% crispy with no flabby parts. I use a regular baking sheet and it comes out perfect pretty much every time. Crispy fries, though... that gadget is magic!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

lollipop, raclette is soooo good! You should try it sometime. It's a classic xmas/New year's company dinner around here. As for me, I am in love with my slow cooker. It is so convenient, and I've managed to find/invent quite a few recipes that do not just involve dumping a can of soup and some chicken breasts in and calling it good. nellieoleson - I was baking my oven bacon rather than broiling it - I think that was a big part of the problem. I was doing it on a cookie sheet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

hm... I like my bacon floppy with just a couple little crispy spots. So that doesn't sell me on the crisper But crispy french fries sound good. My homemade ones are never very crispy. That was a lot of "crispies". Sorry.

I wouldn't say it's my favorite, but my MIL gave me a cherry/olive pitter for my birthday and it's amazing! It works so well.
The appliance that gets the most use is the rice cooker/steamer. At least it was before it died. 😭

We use the toaster Oven Daily. I really would like a nice coffee maker preferably a single cup kind since I am the only coffee drinker. Any Recs? Oh also the pizza cutting wheel and pizza stone are in heavy rotation.

Oh shit and I almost forgot the wine fridge. That thing is cool. Too bad I never keep enough bottles around to keep it full

I broke my billionth French press last week so switched to a Bialetti Moka Express. I have the so-called 6 cup, but it basically makes one big cup. It's great if you like your coffee thick and strong. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I only ever bake it on a cookie sheet. 400 degrees for around 20 or 25 minutes depending on how thick the bacon is. Always comes out shatteringly crispy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Crispy bacon here. I bake mine on a cooling rack over a cookie sheet so it doesn't sit in fat. My favorite gadget is definitely my espresso machine. How could I live without it? Otherwise I really love my immersion blender in the fall when I make soup often. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Http://notjustnovels.wordpress.com

I've been thinking I need to get an immersion blender. What would I use it for other than soup?

Oh yeah, immersion blenders for the win. tinydancer, I use mine for soups, sauces, marinades, pestos, smoothies, etc. I make soups very frequently (especially in the winter but also in the summer), so just that makes it worth it for me. The other things I just do occasionally.

I use a stainless french press for coffee (I've broken way too many glass ones) and just find the whole process fancy. It really makes me appreciate a nice cup of coffee.
-I have a wine decanter that makes an okay bottle of wine taste much better.
-Pasta maker attachment for my kitchen aid.
-food processor. Couldn't live without it at this point.

Mine is now my Instant Pot.
Also, I think I want an immersion blender, but I can't get one. Last year, H was going to surprise me with one for my birthday. I saw the order on our Alexa app. I was adamant that I didn't need one and that it was sweet, but I didn't want any more kitchen gadgets. He was disappointed but canceled the order. Since then I've realized how useful it could be. Oops.

Also, had to google raclette. Little pans filled with cheese (and meat/veggies, but mostly a special thick, melty cheese) that you heat up in the raclette maker and then put on potatoes to eat. It's very social like fondue. And come on, cheese + potatoes - you can't go wrong with that
